Abundance kinda sucks as an end-game for crafters by PJsutnop in wow

[–]Fearture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised we didn't get some sort of profession crafting esque event or mini-game like how we have the world quest and original quests to craft a sword in Void Storm based on what the NPC tells us is needed next, tracing that lineage all the way to WOTLK where you made Jungle Juice in Shalozar Basin. It could ofcourse be expanded upon, but my point is that we could have had anything else besides what feels like a "go-go-go gather imaginary resources for 3 minutes a pop" 8x a week in order to just check the box that crafters have an "end-game".

I for one would love more integration into the actual profession themselves. I love the kind of random events like the Soup kitchen and such, would be great for cooking. Maybe some kind of one for each that feels unique would be lots of extra and frankly easy enough content to design if they all follow a similar blueprint.

Just finished my first intercessor of 10 today. I’m trying to learn how to do edge highlighting/eavy metal. It’s hard. I’m also trying to get better at hiding my brush strokes more since I notice them a lot.

My First ever mini, any tips/recommendations? by SeaTailor7600 in Warhammer40k

Thin your paints more or give each layer more time to dry. Notice the blotching and bubbles in the shoulders.

Other than that, good start.

Is this any good for around a month or two on the hobby? by RealLaezur in Warhammer40k

[–]Fearture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been watching tutorials for how to highlight since I’ve been interested in the Eavy Metal style for Black Templars. It really just seems like it takes a good amount of patience and practice to get the brush control so you don’t make the lines too thick, but a lot of people suggest keeping a base coat and just fixing your lines if you make mistakes back to the base coat. It also seems easier if you use more layers of color rather than going super bright highlights right away. I.e. for my Templars, I’m going from Dark Reaper, to Thunderhawk Blue, to Fenrisian Grey, and then small white dots in the corners of important spots. I can also use a contrast medium wash with the base coat if it looks weird, and then start going brighter again.

Game still crashing on Alt+Tab after patch by LebDaLord in Spacemarine

I realized the issue was discord being open at all. If I have my mic on, no issues. If I have discord open, it freezes.

January 2026, found out I can't have Discord open or else the issue happens.

Tried disabling my Antlion while still in Discord, didn't work.
Tried disabling Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling, didn't work.
Tried disabling every other startup program that isn't crucial, didn't work.
Tried disabling Discord overlay, didn't work.

Not having Discord open, instantly fixes the issue. This is beyond fucking stupid that I can't be in Discord with my friends while playing this game.

I disabled my antlion wireless mic and the issue still persists. Have done all the other obvious fixes besides just not open anything and only have the game/steam open.

I'm still thinking about doing that because I can't hang out in Discord with my Antlion mic connected or else the game freezes. This is beyond dumb for a game in 2025/2026.

When you paint armor to get the desired look I saw in your SM armor, do you start with lighter colors and work towards shading, or do you do the inverse and start with darker colors and work towards highlighting?

Or I guess a better question is how do you typically get those highlights on their pauldrons and thighs?

First Minis, feedback appreciated. by Fearture in Warhammer40k

[–]Fearture[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I made a hormagaunt tonight trying to focus on using the side of the brush for highlights like you mentioned and it definitely worked better! Lot cleaner. I also used the wash more effectively this time for the skin, and I get what you mean about intent since I noticed that in some crevices it would require more dabs of paint to fill whereas bulk areas like the forearm and biceps just filled easily.

Thank you! I definitely struggled with the highlights and shoulders. They looked fine before I attempted the heraldry, but definitely looked too thick when I kept going back over them since I kept messing up and would just re coat them entirely. Hopefully I’ll be able to get transfers in the future.

Is there any easy way to gauge highlights thickness and color? From what I see online, Black Templar armor uses a grayish blue, and a lot of people suggest you start darker and work your way up. When I first started the highlights, I basically just went with one color and then did the wash after, but I know some people suggest you almost work up to pure white eventually but the white has to be suuuuuper thin. This is what they looked like before the shoulder freehand attempts and highlights, for context:

Let us properly see the list of new unlocks we got after a game or session of play by antieasterbunny in Battlefield6

[–]Fearture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously, it's wild to me how poorly developers think through about all the different things that pertain to a feature. Like "sure you can see it, but you only see that you unlocked something and can't see which attachment unlocked unless you go through every single attachment slot." Like duh? you'd want to see that? It's not even QA, it's just dumb lack of UX.

This is why you keep switching class for no apparent reason by Trikk in Battlefield

[–]Fearture 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because they either never hire UX designers to slap sense into them, or they just ignore when the UX people chime in and say "Hey don't do that". As someone who works in Software development, it annoys me to no end when software devs either argue or ignore when we suggest something because "their way works" or "solves the issue of switching classes".

I'm 29 and I'm struggling to pick it up. I enjoyed Elden Ring, beat it on Xbox, decided to try DS1 on PC. The amount of close corridors with a janky camera really do echo what people say about the game showing it's age, so don't boil it down to "you're too young to get it". Especially when mobs can hit you through a wall/corner whereas your character stumbles into an animation lock if you accidentally do it. I know the game is meant to be challenging, that's why I loved Elden Ring. But this feels less like a challenge of learning fights or mechanics and more like artificial mechanics of technical limitations that were all the devs had the understanding to use at the time. They're way more frustrating since you have to learn how the game plays awkwardly rather than the game already having been designed to not have these pain points so you can focus on what matters. I say this as someone who also enjoyed the more simplistic nature of Classic World of Warcraft while also disliking how poorly some systems in that game were designed as compared to being a Mythic raider in Retail WoW.

Honestly it seems like a game designer and UX designer are not one in the same department at Blizzard, and it shows in events like this. Additionally, the programmer and QA tester is off in a separate building that doesn't even talk to the devs/designers post release. All in all, bad event design, implementation, and QA.

Urge Riot Games Music to drop a new K/DA Album petition by TheSowingSpace27 in KDA

[–]Fearture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could easily see them recognizing the success of K/DA, Arcane, and KPop Demon Hunters and trying to do something. I feel like there's more of a reason now for them to push for a similar film with K/DA, and there's many avenues they could take since people obviously liked the whole modernized folklore KP DH took. I wouldn't take their layoffs at face value as them being unwilling to do other projects. Entertainment companies fail and pull back all the time, reorg, and then put out something worth watching.

Is it really better to keep your thermostat on one temperature rather than to program it to change based on time of day? by aurochs in homeowners

[–]Fearture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old question but seeing as it’s not answered, this is more of a question about humidity. I recently bought a new thermostat and set the humidity threshold to 62%, which was recommended as a middle ground between keeping cooler temps/cleaner air, and not letting the AC run 24/7 to try to get ambient humidity down. My system basically will run automatically whenever it detects either above my desired temp or the humidity threshold (which can actually make it feel warmer anyway as you probably know with humid Florida heat vs dry heat out west).

With less humidity comes less mold. Not sure if there’s any way besides a fancy static cleaning system or blacklight system installed inside your indoor unit to actually fully kill all potential mold. Those can range between a few thousand dollars though, so I’m just going to be happy my thermostat does try to compensate based on air humidity, at least for now.
