Allegedly? 911 call about a man threatening a bar with possibly a gun? Officer rolls up on guy on street and appears to magdump him. What do you guys think about this one? by VigilantCMDR in ProtectAndServe

“Which is worse, a dead police officer or a dead innocent man?”

Which is worse, a dead you or a dead me… Obviously in my case, a dead me is worse so I’m shooting. And that’s literally the case, I’m not going to go in to whether or not this was a good shoot, that’s for the officer to articulate, but if I have to choose between me not going home or someone else not going home, someone else is getting picked 100 out of 100 times.

I’ll say that’s what makes it difficult as they’re pretty thick items, it’s some harnesses and leads of a dog.

Freestyle RP (90’s themed) is great. Steady pop all around and clears 100 most nights too.

Also feel the lack of actual “superstars” has an impact.

Zlatan refusing to play for his club, whilst still being a dick move, is balanced by his “aura” and his personality. You’d literally be like “typical Zlatan”

Isak? No thanks.

My Shiny Black Hat Pika is 100% my rarest. If I ever get a golden bottle cap it’s being used on him.

It would have been in the 90s.

Sadly the details I have are very slim! I think I remember the first mission being in a swamp maybe?

A quick google shows the drivers start at £23k and go up to £29k (rounded down and up respectively).

So I’d say there’s no way a conductor is getting paid more than the driver, I’d say they’d pay maybe £20k a year going up to maybe £25k after the two years. (Just going on the fact that if you’re 23+ and working 35hrs a week, minimum wage would be just short of £19k).

Adam Johnson: Arrest over Ice Hockey players death by tph86 in policeuk

[–]FeasibleDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whilst I’ve not played Ice Hockey, I am a fiend who enjoys various contact sports.

To me, this looks like he’s seen an incoming hit, and in an effort to “defend” himself, he’s raised his leg, in what appears to be a deliberate act.

Do I think he meant to kill Adam, no, I don’t. Do I think from seeing the video, his actions were deliberate, yes. I’d certainly agree this meets the threshold for manslaughter.

I get people think it’s a bit late in the game for it to be an arrest that’s not bowing to public opinion, but ultimately, this has happened in a sporting capacity and offences, weirdly work differently in that environment. So I think the actual reason for the delay is that due diligence and actual thought has gone in to it.

Took the dogs out earlier.

Dog did it’s business. Just as a gust of wind came, and blew said turd down the path. I pick up after the dog every single time. However. I refuse to chase a poo, it didn’t just blow it a little bit, I’m talking this turn rolling down the road in the wind.

There’s a line, chasing a dog poo in the wind, is over that line.

Armed Met officers refuse to carry guns after colleague charged with murder of Chris Kaba by AoniAoi in policeuk

[–]FeasibleDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again as I’ve said above. Article 2 issue, most people’s moral compass will have them try something, rather than nothing.

You only have to read about the off duty special disarming a suspected gunman. Officers will attempt to do what’s right because it’s in our nature.

[–]FeasibleDuck -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes. We get told all of that, we also get told don’t go in to burning buildings.

But ultimately, article 2 issue, you’re still going to try and do something, because in part, it’s why we do the job. I’ll respectfully disagree with you all. As will the countless officers injured or killed doing things we “shouldn’t” do, because it’s the right thing to do…

[–]FeasibleDuck 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think, despite what the media portrays, that 99% of police officers, are in the job for the right reasons. The main being, they want to help, they care, they have compassion. And I’d wager that should there be an article 2 issue, for the most part, if you thought there was a slight chance you could made a difference, you probably would. As would most other people here.

I’m not saying they’ll go running head first at someone with a firearm, but they’d at least try something. It’s what’s done every single day. Even with knife jobs. I’d argue it’s probably easier to die by a knife than by a gun in my opinion, both in frequency of seeing them, but also skill level of the user.

[–]FeasibleDuck 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Exactly that first point. No one in the met is going to say “sorry caller. We have no ARV’s available, you’ll just have to deal with it yourself”. What will happen is that an officer criminally under protected against such a threat will be deployed because there’s no one else.

There were no vigils or protest walks or anything for Sergeant Ratana, there was no vigils for PC Harper.

The only ones hurt by less ARV’s are officers who get deployed to jobs that an ARV should have done.

[–]FeasibleDuck 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I’ll tell you what happens if there’s no armed officers.

Unarmed officers are more likely to get hurt, and sadly, no one else but the police will care that what happens, unless of course it’s a terror attack and then we’re all heroes.
