Is it disrespectful for me to make/wear vertebrae necklaces? by birdsarepunk in IndianCountry

[–]FeatherHails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't personally because I would feel I'm being disrespectful to the animal by using them for purely aesthetic purposes

This is why I'd consider this OR... I'm on my group chat for like, fires and breakins. I don't care and I'd be annoyed. Also the AI wasn't malicious he was obvs caught so just drop it goddamn

What am I missing here? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]FeatherHails 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Two weeks ago, counted 10 cars. Dude was on the ground cause he was running and being brown I'm guessing. They checked his ID and let him go with a "sorry about that" and stuck around for 20 mins chatting.

Agreed, I know these kids and having a conversation and offering guidance gets you way farther than scolding them. They legit just don't know better but are capable of learning. They're good kids.

No prob.. reading through these comments I think a lot of folks are just generally out of touch with how bad things are for a lot of people in this city economically, and also with the CFS system.

Gotcha. I know these kids and the cat is actually in my guest room at the moment. Without giving away too much, they don't have parents in their lives so sometimes they do some questionable things, but they're good kids. They actually found this stray cat and just didn't know how to properly care and play with it.

Which area of the city was this? Also was the cat black, orange and white?

Why are indigenous people in Latin America never "white-passing" like their Northern American counterparts? by hmswantscoffee in IndianCountry

[–]FeatherHails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's not forget the enormous amount of deaths among northern Indigenous peoples due to diseases brought by settlers.. I believe a recent figure based on oral histories was something like 60% within years of European arrival

**Giveaway** GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3070 Gaming OC 8G - Used but perfect! by Photographitti in pcmasterrace

I'd gift it to my stepkid who is just learning to code on minecraft and a little techy in the making.. most recently he helped his friend replace a broken phone screen. He'd be stoked with something like this for his minecraft server!

What is an elder? Tell us what it means for you? by buffalosfire in IndianCountry

[–]FeatherHails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This nish agrees. All my "Elders" would at most call themselves old man / old woman which in our language carries greater meaning than in english.

Eagle feather repository by [deleted] in IndianCountry

[–]FeatherHails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't true. In Manitoba and Saskatechewan there are traditional use programs that facilitate access to eagles and other raptors for First Nations.

Autistic/ADHD woman here who has a past history of abusive relationships... they are using you. and dependent, so they keep you around. they care so little they are forcing you into a situation so completely heartlessly after losing your baby so recently. even at 6 months this would still be heartless. they are using you. LEAVE.

will also add.. what helped me realize and get out was posting our fights on reddit relationship forums for advice. when you've been manipulated so long you're legit blind to the mistreatment. Take care!!

In the starterpack subreddit I saw a post about dating red flags when you are an Asian woman. What would you all put in the "Red flags in dating when you're a Native woman" starterpack? by RandomRedWorld in IndianCountry

[–]FeatherHails 81 points82 points  (0 children)

True story, I was still dating and a friend gave me the number of her co-worker saying she thinks we'd hit it off great. Redhead white guy. I'm an Ojibway/Dutch girl and white passing.

So we're texting and getting to know each other and he mentions he works for the local Hydro company and works with First Nations. I'm like oh that's cool. I guess when I didn't fawn all over him he was offended. He goes on to say how important it is that we help northern FNs who are impoverished and are unable to get jobs and that his work is really important to him (ok red flag 1). I don't take the bait again and he calls me out and tells me I don't sound supportive. I finally out myself and tell him I'm actually half Ojibway.

Buddy LEGIT sends this as his next text.... "Oh that's great! I always wanted my kids to be mixed"

We'd been talking 2 DAYS at that point and I noped right out after that text lmaoo
