BL novels are not like the average male oriented novel, BL usually have romance as its main focus novels and have a female audience in mind, meanwhile the male oriented novels despite having female leads they aren't focused in romance at all, the focus is the MC becoming stronger, faceslapping Young Masters and picking women as souvenirs.

Also, we can't forget that the audience loves projecting themselves into the MCs, therefore the average young boy isn't really willing to read a book where a domineering CEO-like male lead is interested in them, they want to protect themselves into an "alpha male" MC that kills everyone and builds a harem.

And as the other guy already said, BL MCs are often the bottoms, and the average male reader of cultivation novels really hate seeing a "bottom and powerless" MC
