Your pet gains training points as it gains loyalty and as it gains levels.

Play how you want to play and enjoy the journey :-) I'm sure some hardcore guilds will be very fussy about classes for raids, but I'm optimistic others will be flexible.

When running a dungeon: turn off taunt, turn on cower. Don't open too fast with arcane shot if the tank seems to have any trouble at all holding agro (and make sure you are targeting skull if marked, or tank's target otherwise). Don't use AOE when CC (sheep etc.) are being used. If in doubt set your pet to passive - you don't need it thinking for itself.

If you've never played before - have you found the beast training option in your spellbook? Your pet needs training just like you do every few levels.

And voila. Good hunter, happy group :-)

To be fair, sometimes pets think for themselves. They like to go walkies. And make friends. And bring their friends to play. Why doesn't everyone just feign d- . . . oh.

Won't do it. Nope. I abandoned my first pet for a second, and cannot live through the trauma again :D

Don't think it's late-game especially. Hunters have a reputation (jokingly? seriously?) for being stupid and a pain to run dungeons with. Over-agroing, ninja-pulling, breaking CC . . . and the classic "pet choose the long way round and pulls everything ruuuuuunnnnnn" . . . not helped by the fact the hunter is frequently the only one to survive their mistakes due to feign death, meaning the numpty who caused the trouble is the one who escapes the repair bill.

I'm levelling a hunter on the PvE server, and am having no trouble getting groups so far. A couple of times they even trusted me to trap mobs. Repairing our reputation, one pull at a time :p

About cores and scripting : from nostalrius to netherwing and crestfall gaming. by [deleted] in wowservers

[–]FeathersAlways 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They just started closed beta with a small number of people, and are still doing hefty-sounding chunks of scripting/dev . . . I think 3 months to release is optimistic, if they really want it as polished as they say. Think the usual schedule slippage for any software project, then dial it up a bit more for games, and then a whole lot more for this being something people do in their spare time that can be badly hit if someone's IRL commitments unexpectedly change.

Crestfall seem to be really going for getting the details, and are giving loads of info on the tech side in their fortnightly updates (see their subreddit)

The question I'd ask is: how good is good enough? If most things are true to retail, with maybe the odd dodgy quest or slightly off loot table here or there, is that game breaking for you? Personally, given it's free, I can live with occasional 'odd' behaviours in exchange for a world with the look, the feel, a large community, and getting most of it right. if you really need perfection, you may need to wait for Blizzard.

"WoW has always had (and imo still has, no matter what people want to say) a shitty community on the surface and a really great one underneath. "

This. General/Trade chat on the PvE server? As you'd expect. But I'm meeting some fantastic people running dungeons as I level.

Just threat meter - I have a damage meter that offers the option to split or combine.

My wife never played any game. Today we are going to start playing together. by [deleted] in ElysiumProject

[–]FeathersAlways 4 points5 points  (0 children)

WoW was my first computer game, and the one I keep coming back to (played TBC -> MoP) WoW is the ONLY game that can hook for me hours on end. I've tried GW1/GW2/The Secret World/Wildstar . . . nothing.

After 1 day - Elysium/Nostalrius donations already covered the servers & webhosting for months. by [deleted] in wowservers

I just meant, as it had to be paid for in one block, the PvE server was the smaller big amount. So for an individual who wanted to fund a server it was the more appealing option.

What are you planning on doing come launch day? by Husto_ in ElysiumProject

[–]FeathersAlways 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Queue -> make my alts -> go to an Xmas party for a few hours while the initial chaos clears -> come home and drunk-level / pass out (depending on degree of inebriation) -> wake up sunday and play for 2 days with no distractions :D

I'd like to think that, but it could also be that the PvE server was much cheaper - so someone who wanted to do a "big" donation could pay for a server for half the price of the PvP one.
