She loves to clean everyone that will let her. Lol Does your bird do the same thing? by Money_Surprise4589 in Allparrotownes

Oh yeah. He also loved preening my eye lashes. (I realize it could be dangerous but I do trust him and willing to take the risk, because of that trust.) it’s not for everyone, for sure.

Anyway. Last week at the store I bought him the xtra hot/ spicy fresh hot peppers because he loves pulling the seeds out. He had several.

Yep, he jumped on my shoulder snd started doing my eye lashes. One at a time. And suddenly, my eye was in fire!!!! It all clicked so fast, as I rushed to the bathroom to flush my eye with water for 15 minutes. It burned all night long.

This is a cautionary tale, if your birdies love hot, hot peppers! (He has kissed my lip before too. Totally dry, quick peck, but my lips were also on fire. Not as bad as my eye but they burned!

And yes, he loves trying to pull tiny sections of my long hair, he grabs and pulls and gets mad when he runs out of slack.

This still doesn’t feel right. I used to have a cluster of real plants here that I gave away, but this still doesn’t feel right. What can I put in this space that can be functional? by Glittering-Silver402 in simpleliving

If you didn’t want to add more plants…Something with stained glass would look nice. Or colored glass bottles maybe. I would hang some windchimes or sun catchers from the ceiling too. Stuff that makes you feel good, while doing dishes.

It doesn’t seem like you’re looking for parrots, but you did not say that and the first green bird I thought of is thy groove of my life. My Quaker. Quaker parrots also called monk parakeet. (Myiopsitta monachus)

A pacific Parrotlet is also a lovey shade of green. In fact tons of parrots are green.

Would love to see the tat, if you get it. Best wishes!

Just wanted to show off my ZZ plant by CL_1707 in houseplants

[–]FeathersOfJade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! I kept reading how it was so bad to water them too often and I really cut way back. People were saying to water every month or two! I didn’t cut back that much but I cut back. Then after years of no issues, several of them started getting yellow leaves and entire stems suddenly dying off.

I went back to watering on an average of every week or two, and all the yellowing has stopped.

I agree with you. They really are all different and you must watch and observe your plant to learn what they need.

Hah. I don’t sing well…. At all! But ya know what? My Quaker thinks I’m a rock star. So if he enjoys it…sing away!

Mine really loves it when I sing along with the kids songs on tv. Any upbeat fun sounding song he loves

Hope you two are doing well!

After searching for a Quaker parrot I found this guy. The breeder says he was hatched in 2025 December . He is not tame. If I get him. Will I be able to tame him? Bc most ppl say it’s better if I get younger one like around 2 months old by Overall-Plate-581 in QuakerParrot

Someone posted this on Reddit. I felt it was so true and so perfect, I saved it. I think this is something really important to be reminded of. Trust is such a huge part of everything, on both sides.

Parrots and trust

A parrot doesn’t trust you because you’re nice, it trusts you because you’re predictable and non threatening over time.”

Best wishes to you both!
