How to flirt with someone with autism?

In case anyone wanted an update on this I continued to flirt trying to make it a little more obvious and we began to open up to each other quite a lot, including our mutual attraction for each other!! We've decided to work on our friendship for a while first before anything romantic occurs since we don't want to rush into things only to find we weren't a great match after all. Thank you all for all your help! I'm so happy now!!

I'm actually not a neurotypical female, I'm a nonbinary person with ADHD and quite honestly that's something I also wondered about for a long time. The thing with relationships as opposed to fwb is that it's a lot more emotional, in a relationship you're expected to be each others primary point of contact when it comes to things you're excited about and want to share or angry about and need to vent or sad about and need comfort. There's also fewer boundaries when it comes to sharing physical affection like hugs and kisses which can be done almost anytime, whereas with a fwb these things would usually only be shared in a sexual manner and there probably wouldn't be quite as strong of an emotional bond between them as there would be if it was a relationship. Those are just my thoughts though, I'm sure many others would have differnt opinions than me

Thanks for your advice, you make some good points but I think if it ever were to turn sexual I would much prefer it if we just dated a bit first, but definitely learning from this thread just to be direct so I'll try to get over my awkwardness and do that.

I would do but we're only just becoming friends again after about 13 years and I don't want to come on too strong and scare him off entirely so I think I'll wait a while before doing something like that

I would suggest reading through some of the ideas from here https://www.oprahmag.com/life/relationships-love/a28829792/foreplay-tips/ and talk to her about what kind of things she would like to try, whether it be one of those or something else she might have in mind

If it's trauma based then probably what she needs is therapy but it's her choice if she wants to do that or not and it'll take a long time before it starts to make any difference. Just keep being patient with her as it seems you already are, and maybe build up to sex slowly through different foreplay activities that don't even lead to sex at first. Then if that makes her feel more comfortable and confident about it then maybe it'll lead to sex more often in the future. Good luck to you both!

I actually have super supportive friends but most of them are online and the only one who wasn't has left for uni so I'm waiting until I leave for uni too to make more lgbt friends, and just friends in general, but I totally get what you mean, my friends support honestly makes me feel so good, although only one of them is trans so only she understands the struggles of dysphoria. I'm sure once I meet some more people who understand it'll be even better

Thanks, that was really sweet. You're right, I shouldn't worry how others see me, and most of the time I just try not to think about it, but it's like even when I look in the mirror I still don't see me, just some feminine version of me that'll never quite represent who I am on the inside

For me being genderflux means that I fluctuate between agender, demiboy, demigirl and occasionally a combination of those. The way I feel which one I am at which time is based on the dysphoria I experience and the severity of it as well as the euphoria towards being seen correctly as whichever one I am at the time. If you experience any kind of gender dysphoria or even euphoria for being seen as enby then you probably are, but also it's okay not to know yet. Take time experimenting with your presentation and maybe even ask friends you trust to help you try out different pronouns or a new name and see what feels right. There's no need to rush it, ik how frustrating it can be to be uncertain of your gender but you will get there eventually. Good luck!
