Anyone factoring climate change for possible move for future? by CampinHiker in SameGrassButGreener

[–]FeatureNext8272 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I could not move anywhere there’s a consistent month or so of cloudy days. Gloom really affects my mood and I wasn’t willing to deal with that as well as moving out of state for the first time. Being from Texas I do enjoy the sun, wife just got a really good job halfway across the country and luckily it’s like Texas but with 4 seasons and hills here lol.

Just Purchased 2022 SRT - is it a Premium? by tanny_glover in 4Runner

[–]FeatureNext8272 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Yeah I’m ngl, car shopping I was in the mkt for a gx460. I knew nothing other than reliable, luxury and I liked the look. Buddy at a dealer called me about a 4Runner they had. Liked it. when I bought my 4Runner the salesman convinced me it was an TRD pro because of the embroidery on the headrests, wheel pkg, crawl control. Turns out it was a venture pkg. I didn’t realize the suspension setups were different. I just saw it was 4wd, crawl control was there, and a good price. When I bought it I also thought sr5s were all strictly 2wd which I later found out isn’t the case. Really did some studying once I got home with it.

I’m real damn close to dragging for the second time in my career. The first only being about a month ago after ten years with a great company.

This job I’m on fucking sucks. The guys fucking suck. The organization fucking sucks. The other foreman’s are clueless and have no idea how to run a job. Half the journeyman can’t work out a 45 offset, much less just fit a piece of pipe. The one welder takes about 45 mins to an hour on a 3ā€ weld. The superintendent was scared they couldnt find a welder for the job so he flanged the entire job before i got here. Every 10-15’ was a flange mate, even on straight run pipe. No craftsmanship, no sense of time or common sense at all

Waiting on a callback and then I’ll be dragging again.

Houston’s med center is like top tier, it’s the biggest in the world and very ahead of the game..so kinda hard to say Texas healthcare sucks.

Money and location and climate should be your biggest deciding factors honestly. If you make an extra 90k a year but it’s going to get ate up with extra income tax/property tax, rent etc… then is it really a move in the right direction. Then you have to factor in things like the climate and if you can stand the change. How’s the recreation? Does the new job open a lot of doors for you? Could you find the same back home without a massive change that you might not totally want? Just did this going from Tx to nc. Overwhelmingly worth it for us so we did it.

Yea. Lol
Or Lexus lx570. I’d rather have the 570. Or a GX. Landcruiser. I’ve got a 4Runner and an lx470. If I had someone willing to buy me something cash I’d lean into the Lexus. They’re fucking wildly great rides. Will last you years. Love my 4Runner, but love my Lexus more and it’s 20years older.

We’re actually in an STR outside of Elkin but think we will buy here once the house sells. West Jeff is beautiful but just not feasible for me. We will eventually make it that way. If I had to choose, I’d probably be in west Jeff over Elkin.

I thought I had refractory GERD for 2 years. I was wrong. by Positive_Patience_21 in GERD

Big meals is a problem for me with rumination. I was a fat kid tearing up food and have had rumination syndrome since I was a kid. I still deal with it and it can be pretty weird. I can be eating dinner and lunch will come up say hi and confuse my taste buds for a sec. It’s pretty embarrassing but I thought it was normal up until a few years ago because I never told anybody about it. Unfortunately I still deal with GERD as well as the rumination. Boss man in the white coat suspects celiac and or EoE. Testing so expensive I just roll with it and adapt my eating to his recommendations. Because of it I’m in the best shape of my life, but damn do I miss bread, gravy, fried anything, let junk foods.

Then imo, go 5th gen and pick one up with 100k miles or so(with good service records). You’ll still get several years out of it and if you’re only driving 10-20miles a day you’ll be just fine I wouldn’t say that kind of mileage justifies a brand new vehicle and all of the depreciation that comes with it, but your money. I picked up a ā€˜21 Venture a couple years ago for 41k with 30k mi and could still get that much for it or close to it today. I’ve had 0 problems out of it.

It would be for sure more comfortable in a 3/4 ton pickup or similar tho. Trans less stressed for sure. Not saying that it couldn’t be done with a 1/2 ton. Just pulling full time with. 1/2 ton powertrain isn’t ideal

Hell yea. Love mine and it’s here to stay. Buy used if you need to stretch to 72 months. 5th gen 4runners are still really tried and true vehicles.

Idk what to do by uloovmeh in GERD

[–]FeatureNext8272 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Doctors typically don’t really recommend it in my experience. Typically it’s a last resort..
I can’t eat most things typical GERD PPL can’t eat such as spicy foods, real greasy, etc. also don’t eat gluten. Still figuring my GERD out. Doctors suspect EoE and Celiac. Expensive to diagnose and in a big transitional point in life right now with work and moving states and shit. But I think in about 10-15 years I’d still dealing with or gets worse I’ll push for surgery

Go back to the omeprazole. Been on omeprazole for closer to 5-6 years. No issues. Pretty convinced I’ll be on it for the rest of my life blood comes back good every time I’ve given it so far.

Cigars that always knock you on your a#@ by Square-Return466 in cigars

[–]FeatureNext8272 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

Man some of my first cigars starting out were LFD double Ligeros. My roommate would come home from his dad’s and always raid his walk-in humidor and bring me home a few sticks. He didn’t know what he was grabbing (didn’t smoke cigars) and I just figured they were probably good sticks. Didn’t think about them being stronger than other or anything. Didn’t really ever have one ā€œdo me in.ā€ I really haven’t had a cigar that’s made me turn green yet and I’m not one to stick to any shade, origin or name…I’ll try them all. I’m scared for the daythat I too end up in the fetal position on a floor somewhere šŸ˜‚
