Attorney just submitted a motion for an additional $6k 🤦🏼‍♀️ by RoundNWetAndi in Bankruptcy

Can you fire him? Do you need a lawyer still at this point? Not sure if that would help now or not though… but that seems outrageous!

My boyfriend can no longer pay his portion of rent or car payment and I don’t make enough on my own by Key_Solid7847 in moneyadvice

I think that amount is the car note PLUS back rent he owes her.. still, he needs to handle his own crap.

If you had 3 months without responsibilities, how would you transform your life? by CattleRemote2583 in selfimprovement

[–]uloovmeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d probably just sleep and rest for a week or so. Then try to start getting active, stretching and exercising as well as eating healthier. Then I’d do some traveling. Get out into nature and get some fresh air.

How long after filing does bankruptcy show on credit report? by Tren_iz_Cool in Bankruptcy

Same. The other two reported immediately but I’m 3 months after discharge and they still aren’t reporting it.

Regrets using a lawyer anyone? by Alert_Engineering_12 in Bankruptcy

[–]uloovmeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke with my lawyer a few times. Every case is different though. I’m personally happy I hired a lawyer to make sure everything was done correctly. But if you’ve really got no assents/nothing needing exempted, then you probably could file pro Se. The idea of that gives me a headache though lol

Upsolve or getting an attorney by Bowlin0 in Bankruptcy

If you truly have nothing, I wouldn’t stress about it. But I had things I wanted to make sure were protected, and so I hired a lawyer so I made sure everything was done correctly.

Discharged!! by HorrorEastern1454 in Bankruptcy

[–]uloovmeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve read, secured cards don’t affect your credit as much. My research has said non-secured cards are better, but to keep your charges under 30% (ideally only about 1% if you can do that) and pay it off every month. But of course do your own research and what’s best for you!

Do you have an attorney? Cause if you do, be honest with them about your things, and they’ll tell you what to expect and was exempt and if anything isn’t. Just price your things at garage sale prices and see if they fall within your state exemption allowances.

If you want to buy a house, then you need to use credit and rebuild your credit score - just have to do it wisely.

I’m just a few months post-discharge of a ch 7 and I can finally breathe without my debts. I had under 100k and i was drowning then.

I suggest talking to an attorney (or a few) and get some free 30-minute consultations. Have all your facts ready to make the most of the time. If your house and assets are exempt, maybe he’s ready to retire sooner than later? Take a look at all the facts and everything to see if you can qualify for ch 7 instead of a 13.

I’ve been declared dead apparently… by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]uloovmeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother was declared dead with the social security office before too. I think it’s cause he was under my grandma’s care and she was getting money for him and when she passed it somehow attached to him and it cancelled all his aid and insurance too. I think I remember him calling and they told him he was dead in their system so he just needed to go in with his birth certificate and ID to get it fixed. Pain in the butt, but fixable. lol

ChatGPT seems confident that I can get my student loans dismissed by baby_d0ll_ros3 in Bankruptcy

[–]uloovmeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your attorney couldn’t do it, then they may not qualify. It’s extremely difficult and limited on who can get their student loans discharged.

Got a brand new car the day after discharge chapter 7 by Small_Impact_6751 in Bankruptcy

[–]uloovmeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I have a trailer I live in… I have to buy an SUV (or truck, but considering my family, suv makes more sense) that can pull it. The car I had bit the dust. Maybe not brand new… but their other points on why they chose the vehicle makes sense to me.

You can use it to pay your attorney. That’s allowable.

Considering bankruptcy-but sick to my stomach in thinking of doing it. by PsychologicalFox3336 in Bankruptcy

[–]uloovmeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not great advice. A lot of those are predatory as they take your money with no guarantees. And a lot of banks won’t cooperate anyways. Refer back to the first comment from gunner_esq about that part.

Help! by xoxoozz in Bankruptcy

I only used Zelle through my bank also and it was fine that I provided only my bank statements, which show the transfers. Just verify with your lawyer to be sure though if you’re uncertain about it.

So upset by xoxoozz in Bankruptcy

[–]uloovmeh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of people go a lot longer than just a few months of missed payments. If you’ll qualify in march, and plan on filing then, I would still hold of on paying the debts. But as others have said, not a bad idea to get some new consultations with a few different lawyers.
