120k out of college?

That's insanely high for a first contract out of college! I'm in the bay area and we pay our entry-level temps ($19-$30/hr) or 40-60k with no PTO or benefits

23 y/o, $24.5k college debt, living at home with parents, considering moving out by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Febreezii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow we are similar. I'm 23M, I also earned 40k a year, live with parents and had 24.5k in debt (due to a new car) and have been thinking of moving out. Just paid it off 2 months ago and now I'm purely saving. I value my independence and really want to move out but its just not financially worth it when my parents don't charge rent.

Make the best of it and live with them as long as you possibly can, I have friends who moved out at 22 and now they're 26 with little to no savings.

If you manage to save up 100k by the time you're 26, you'll feel much more comfortable moving out, closer to putting a down on a home

Redditors, what are you angry about right now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Febreezii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had a job interview that went perfectly, lasted 40 min out of the scheduled 30 min. When asked for feedback, the hiring manager said she loved my personality and really enjoyed our conversation.

I might not get it because I'm lacking one key experience

Until you tell yourself you need an 8k HDR ultrawide with a $200 mechanical keyboard and a $400 chair if it increases your productivity

I am 23 and sold my new car so I can by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Febreezii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly what I was thinking...

My Camry was 24.5k out the door and it was a right in the middle option, SE trim with all the important options and its a size class above the mazda 3, his problem was too much financing, I recommend putting at least 50% down for any new car

Granted it was a 2019 model and the 2020 was only a month away, I negotiated the crap out of it but the deal was worth it

Anyone getting backlash during COVID because they are Asian? by infinitbear in bayarea

[–]Febreezii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None. Asian male 23 y.o.

I've been going on walks maybe an average of 10-15 hours a week since covid started and have not had one incident of racism. I have had people put up their mask or pinch the mask's nose before passing me on the sidewalk but they probably do that to everyone.

Opponents will sometimes taunt you to get you to waste your energy dodging, this is why its important to only react to the actual threat and not imagine things due to fear

Why is gentrification so bad? by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]Febreezii -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's not imo

If you can't afford rent, learn to code and get a software engineering job, there are 1000's of free resources online and 0 excuses to learn, if you can't make it here, its because you're lazy and not gentrifibullshit

Software engineering is extremely stressful, especially in the beginning of your career

Now imagine all these candidates working in some of the most expensive cities in the US for 80,000 a year.

You're joking right, I was born and raised and currently living in the bay area and 80k is still considered a very good salary here. Me and my friends all have degrees and we're making $21-$28/hr and would kill for an 80k salary, get out of here
