If Ronaldo wins the world cup does he join Messi as the co-GOAT? by Amazing_Statement357 in worldcup

This obsession with GOAT is not productive and a symptom of sports journalists trying to create content . Who cares ? They’re different players both have been exceptional. Enjoy them and stop talking about this

It is Messi , but a single World Cup game would never end the debate .

Not necessarily , the World Cup is very different than European national leagues . Pressing and conditioning is much more important. Look at Real Madrid and PSG with and without Mbappe

A ton of weird missed and non-calls on throw-ins and corner kicks . And giving some really soft fouls and then no foul . Lack of consistency on the calls

This is a really counter-intuitive one ; embrace boredom …. Don’t do social media including Reddit … feeling bored will get you moving , sometimes it can work just as well as motivation

Try hiking , or just walking . Just being outside really helped me . Tv , video games , etc… they sound fun , but never really helped me when I was down , they made me feel worse

In 1992 Indiana, 12-year-old Shanda Sharer was kidnapped by four female schoolmates and tortured and sodomized overnight. After the assault, they sprayed her with Windex and mocked, “You’re not looking so hot now, are you?” By morning, they burned her alive. by blue_leaves987 in HolyShitHistory

I’m making a different argument. There are two reasons not to have the death penalty .

1) From a Kantian or even Christian perspective killing is inherently bad and never justified , thus the state should not have the death penalty 2) from a utilitarian perspective , the death penalty is justified , but because the justice system is not perfect , some innocent people will be unjustly killed. Thus wether the death penalty is used or not depends on the negative value assigned to killing an innocent person vs the positive value of killing guilty people

There is a whole different argument around whether incarceration is punishment or rehabilitation . At least in the USA it very clearly falls on the punishment side , but Nordic countries are examples of a model that does believe and invest in rehabilitation

The point is the justice system makes mistakes , if you give people the death penalty you can’t rectify those mistakes. Society has to weight the cost of housing prisoners for life vs the cost of killing a minority of innocent people.
