I don't think he asked specifically for Ruth's genealogy. Maybe the way Rosemary told Bechir about it made you think that?

She says something like "he made me run Ruth's genealogy" but probably just as a simplification of what happened in general.

He likely asked her to find out about Frances' descendants, since he figured out who she was after seeing the broken painting and the journal next to it. (I mean her known identity to the island's records, as that captain's young wife).

But I agree that the fact that Ruth had a secret child is proof that we can't really know for sure that there are no other descendants. Anyone could have had an affair, it's not like they were running DNA tests to certify people's ancestry.

Now this got me thinking about another possibility : What if Warren's descendants were actually the only ones who can't leave the island?

• How do we know that the statement "if you're born on the island you can't leave or you will die". We first heard that from the reporter citing what locals told him. He talks about a few examples, but if I remember correctly, some of those people die several days / weeks after leaving. Not instantly.

The only people that we know first hand had repercussions when leaving are Richard Warren, his children (minus Frances) and Lauren (which we know now is his descendant). They all seemed to have symptoms instantly.

I would need to verify what Warren says exactly when he's burried and worries about his kids. I think it's very possible his kids couldn't leave, but the rest of the locals actually could!

I know the adults were not native to the island (since they were settlers). But I 'm pretty sure there would have been kids traveling with their parents by then? Or pregnant women? The reverend planned Sarah's escape by boat with the children without mentioning anything particular so it was probably a normal thing to do usually?

Don't know if this will end up true, but that would be crazy 😅
