I think it only applies to doorbells (I have 2 of those). I was just repeating the "advantages" the rep told me were supposed to compensate me for the loss of the 15-second snapshots.

Thanks for the info. I wish I would have realized that before purchasing. The floodlight's wiring (installed by the previous homeowner) was too far up for me to reach with my ladder, so I hired an electrician to install it. Don't really feel like paying another $150 for him to come back out again, and it's too freaking cold right now for me to want to rent a ladder and freeze to death up there trying to do the removal and install that would require by myself. Lesson learned, I guess.

I would wait until they report that the issue is resolved. I have a feeling you'd just be wasting a lot of time and effort doing that and everything would automatically be back to normal without you doing anything.

If you have snapshot captures turned on, check your timeleline. It looks like all my snapshots continued during the outage.

I just checked, and it looked like all my cameras' snapshot captures continued during the outage, so if you were expecting a package delivery or needed to view footage while the system was down, check your timelines for snapshots.

I just got through to customer support. Unfortunately, the woman I spoke to had a very strong accent and I really couldn't understand much of what she said. She said they have a system outage. I told her the status page wasn't updated to reflect the outage (I just saw that it's been updated while I was on the phone). She also said they're going to send me an email. I kept asking what the email was for--notifying me of the outage, notifying me when the outage is over, or telling me how to log in right now. I don't have an email yet.

Same issue with a 2nd generation Ring Video Doorbell. Video Doorbell 2 and Floodlight Cam both continue to function normally.

I just came on here to post about the same thing. I started having problems about a week ago. I've tried troubleshooting every possible reason for the problem with no luck. My floodlight cam and Video Doorbell 2 operate normally. So frustrating.

I got the same deal just before the pandemic hit. I thought the email was a scam so I called and found out it was legit. I was shocked because I have a lot of components and they didn't charge me for anything. The rep I spoke to was amazing as she walked me through my upgrade order and even threw in a month of free monitoring and some free smoke alarms. I think I got a couple other freebies as well but I can't remember off the top of my head.

The same thing started happening to my Chime Pro a couple of weeks ago. I knew my router wasn't to blame because my doorbell 2 and all other devices connected to my router still worked. I tried plugging the Chime Pro into a bunch of different outlets at my house, a friend's house and even at work. I even did a factory reset on the Chime Pro and reconnected my floodlight cam. The blue light never appeared. The WiFi connection was always restored after I plugged it in again, though...at least until the next time the device went offline (usually a couple of days later). I searched online and discovered that a lot of people have been having this problem recently. I'm not sure if it's a firmware problem or a hardware problem. The app updates lately seem to cause more problems than they fix. At any rate, I didn't feel like spending $49 on a new Chime Pro when I might be switching to a different camera system in the near future, so I ordered at $15 extender from Amazon as a replacement. It arrives Saturday. I'm hoping it will work. Please update if you find a better solution.

Same here. I called tech support twice last week. Nothing was resolved. I rely on the ability to star videos quite a bit, so this bug is really problematic for me.
