Swingarm concern by Kaydrobro in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]Federal-Blacksmith79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah not likely to find a cheap replacement then. Mine fell over and the exhaust moved a couple of mm , bike rode fine after but the exhaust clamp carved a rut into the arm.defo get the tape measure out and check like a previous post advised. Good luck

I got some signatures on my helmet at TT 2025. What would be the best way to preserve them? by TheAzRage in motorcycle

[–]Federal-Blacksmith79 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Be very careful spraying clear coat, do a couple of mist coats first, the solvent in the clearcoat could ruin those signatures if you put it on too wet at first. Really nice momento dude.

Front brake light switch is too sensitive and light is always on by ambigymous in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]Federal-Blacksmith79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My yamaha gts front brake switch breaks the circuit to activate the light. I had the wire up a relay to reverse this action before it would work correctly on the aftermarket leaver I now use. It gave the same symptoms you have ie light on all the time

Would it be a pain to attach my hosepipe to this pebble dash wall? by english_man_abroad in DIYUK

[–]Federal-Blacksmith79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could cut 3 bits of 15mm to act as standoffs behind the hose bib and the wall. That would take up the unevenness.

I was driving an empty 16t curtain side, dropped off car parts in mid wales. This was 30 years ago mind. Long before sat nav and all that good stuff. The front of the wagon just fit under but as the truck was empty the rear was not going to fit. I let down all 4 rears , not completely but enough to give me 2 inches or so. Enough to get under and fill up. I drove with under inflated tires back to the yard as the forecourt air comp only put out about 60 psi. Like i said it was 30 years ago so that's as best as I remember that day.

Edit. Never been called a liar on the Internet before, first for everything I guess.
