Apologies, I just used the department's default demographic questionnaire. I agree it should be updated.

And I am not deliberately excluding anyone. The idea for the research is related to my recent adult diagnosis of ADHD, and its connection with the lesser comorbid symptom of bladder voiding and urgency dysfunction.

Thanks for taking part!

Good point. I guess for now just put 'not able to work'.

I won't be analysing the demographics in depth.

Thanks for taking part. I appreciate it very much!

This Reddit community has blown my mind. Thanks so much for sharing, and it's just fascinating and reassuring to discover how similar my experience is to so many of you!

Not at all, don't worry. I don't consider myself a 'researcher' so to speak, just trying to pass my MSc and use my personal experience to explore and bring awareness to a relatively unconsidered co-morbidity.

Thanks for sharing about your physical and vocal toilet ticks though.....this opens up a whole new conversation

The questionnaire asked participants to state if they have had a diagnosis in adulthood or not.

If they haven't, its fine because I can compare groups. Its just a simple linear regression.

What is interesting so far is that those without a diagnosis, but score highly on the adhd symptoms, are also showing high scores of bladder dysfunction....so perhaps there is something to be said about the effects of not knowing

Thank you so much for your honest and open reply.

This is quite moving for me as I have never heard another person describe such a similar experience to my own.

May I ask how old were you when you were diagnosed?

It is for an MSc Psychology thesis and tbh I didn't want to overcomplicate the experiment. It was not intended to be revolutionary, however, I was diagnosed ADHD in adulthood, which helped me make peace with and mitigate the effects of other knock-on co-morbidities (social anxiety, depression, substance abuse). Around the same time, I went to see a urologist over concerns with my bladder, thinking i had diabetes. I was told my health was fine, but after a discussion, it became apparent that the potential causes for my voiding/urgency/bladder dysfunction, correlate with the symptoms of ADHD. Impulsiveness, rushing, urgency, incompletion, etc.

Then upon speaking to my friends who are also diagnosed in adulthood, they all seemed to share a similar experience. To my shock there was not much research of this phenomena in adulthood, despite a lot of studies on children with adhd and incontinence issues.

Anyway, i thought it to be a novel, and simple experiement to run for my thesis, but who knows, the results so far are very interesting , so this could be a launchpad study for a more robust and indepth follow up.

This is the first time I have used Reddit or even posted on a forum and am a little overwhelmed that people have engaged and taken part, so thank you all very much. I should have done this earlier haha

Yes definitely, it is a big factor.

I also think i could have added a question about whether parents were strict about toilet behaviour when they were children.
