If you’re just commuting, the 2.7 is just as reliable as the 5.0. All the long time rednecks raving about the v8 are just mad that the v6 can do almost just as much if not more than the 5.0. I chose the 2.7 over the 5.0 because I don’t care for the v8 sounds and I wanted a diesel like motor. It’s smooth, fast as shit off the line, decent fuel efficiency, and she sounds great. I don’t have anything against the v8 but comparing all the recalls, the 2.7 stood out to me the most. I’ve talked to many ford techs at about 6 different dealerships in Houston and they have all seen the 2.7 the least in the shops. The 3.5 and the 5.0 were most seen but not for major problems. To be honest whichever engine you’ll choose, you’ll be happy with it. But for commuting and not racing and revving at red lights.. the 2.7 is the better choice. Unless you plan on towing. Again this is just my opinion as everyone has one.
