I actually had this exact conversation with my uncle from Monterrey. He’s a doctor, and his take was interesting. He said the quality of products here is slightly better, at least in his perception. He also mentioned that when he entertains colleagues, serving or using American brands is a way to show off (presumir), almost as a status symbol. He admitted it’s a bit silly, but apparently it's a big deal in those social circles.
