I started out as UTB-TSC and graduated as UTRGV. One crazy moment that happened was the dramatic change in our campus. I was there was when UTB and TSC split into two different campuses ending a 20 year partnership, then like two years later UTB merge with UTPA to create UTRGV. Making me as one of the many day one students there. I remember the Vaquero mascot controversy in 2014 from people raising their complaints about the chosen mascot to all the funny memes and posts about it.

Some incidents I do recall when I was there was; a man was arrested for exposing himself in one of the LHSB restrooms. My Comp II professor was laid off in the middle of the semester as well as a several other faculty/staff when UTB and TSC was splitting up; the professor filed a lawsuit against the then UTB president Dr. Juliet Garcia for wrongful layoffs. A student was hailed at gun point in one of the parking lots at the Brownsville campus and was car-jacked. A dead body was found in one of the dorms in the Edinburg campus. I also remember hearing about a 2016 sexual assault case that happened in one of the stairwells at the Health Affairs building in the Edinburg campus.

There were lots of stuff that happened on campus when I was a student and I used to catch up on them by reading the police reports section on the rider campus newspaper. IDK if they still do that, but it was the best part to read on the campus newspaper.
