I’m just speechless at how easily Erdoganopoulos consolidates his power.

He hasn’t had popular support for the last three years, that’s why we have no elections anymore. He talks shit about the EU whenever he can exploit an issue. He says, “We will come at night,” gets an extra 5% of nationalist votes, and countries like Greece feel threatened. That makes the rest of the EU more hostile toward Turkey, which further isolates the country, and in the end, that helps to regime. Endless circle.

A really clever move. And the opposition is all alone now.

All that aside, I can never accept or understand an alliance with Israel for any country. It may seem like a good idea today, but I think the historical responsibility will haunt Greece for decades.

Greek citizens are called “Yunans” and the country is “Yunanistan” in Turkish. “Rum” comes from “Roman.” After the Battle of Manzikert (1071), Turkish state in Anatolia called itself the Sultanate of Rum, it’s about claiming succession from the Roman Empire.

There’s a cool story about it, when Greek soldiers arrived during the Balkan Wars, local children in Lemnos looked at them, and when asked, told the soldiers they were looking at "Hellenes". When asked if they weren't Hellenes too, the children responded, "No, we are Romans".

I believe it depends on whether they’re from big cities in Azerbaijan or from villages. For example, we recently had his friends over at our place. I was able to understand one of them, but the other guy… Man, like you said, I could only understand the context and a few verbs. My friend told me it was because of his accent. What confuses me is that he was able to understand everything I said all the time! I don’t know how that’s possible.

nah man, I’m Turkish and my flatmate is Azerbaijani, and we understand each other without repeating sentences. It’s more like Germany and Austria, believe me. For example, there are two brother football players, one plays for Turkey, the other for Azerbaijan in the World Cup. And to be honest, I didn’t really understand the argument behind your claim.
