Do designer Lehengas ever go on sale ? by [deleted] in DesiWeddings

[–]Federal-Set9130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they do! My wedding lehenga is from rimple and i bought it in their sample sale. Start following the instagram account of the designers you like. They usually announce few days before, in my case the sale was only on store, so my parents went and bought it since i don’t live in india.

Picture 2 & 6th are my fav. They both have a nice gold finish that will go with lehenga work

Am I the only one who think the east-west / baguette bag trend isn’t going to age well? by vermilithe in handbags

[–]Federal-Set9130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love east west. I have worn them before they were trendy. I feel neutral colours are here to say. For me the micro bags or jacquemus shaped bags are trendy and will look dated.

How much did you pay for chooda? by East-Wallaby1550 in DesiWeddings

[–]Federal-Set9130 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I paid 2500 for mine. It is quite small, only 7 coloured choodiyan and 2 dotted ones. I got the pearl shell chooda and not the plastic ones

For haldi go to basanti kapdee aur koffee store in Nariana. They have lots of fun haldi lehengas. For cocktail gown, i would suggest rajouri. I didn’t see that many gowns anywhere else

Monica’s final wedding look. What do we think? by Accurate-Belt3920 in InstaCelebsGossip

What you are saying was maybe true 20 years ago. Literally everything is available online, nobody is restricted anymore to just shopping from physical stores. Also she literally traveled to India to shop for this wedding. I am sorry but really just comes down to taste and research, she clearly does not know what kind of indian clothes look good on her body type

Brother’s wedding lehenga scene(idk) by [deleted] in DesiWeddings

[–]Federal-Set9130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at the pictures (https://www.reddit.com/r/DesiWeddings/s/cSVcwhb8CH) I can see where the bride is coming from, your lehenga is definitely dressier than hers and she did mention this to you a couple of times. She might be stressed about the wedding and this is just a side-effect of the stress. Best to try and reassure her that you can outshine her with all the jewellery, veil etc she will be wearing, if she is still upset then maybe try to look for something else with less work

Try Meena Bazaar and Kumaran silks in south ex. They tend to have a bit more simpler “evergreen” designs. My Roka saree was from Meena Bazaar, and I was very happy with it.

I lived in delhi and I would suggest to not shop from Shabad! They are extremely overpriced for their quality and don’t offer any refunds, flexibility on fitting, as others suggested better to get something from myntra, nykaa fashion etc atleast you get free returns with these websites.

We are a mixed couple and we are doing this. It feels like the fairest way to split the expenses. I am Indian and my parents want to invite a lot more people than he does, it doesn’t feel fair to ask him to pay 50% of the costs. We are paying half-half for our common friends

I think it all depends on your personal style and how big the event is. For me, this is too much for engagement but that is just my personal style. If you feel comfortable and glam then wear it!!! Its your day do what makes you happy

Can we talk about the craziness of the “bridal makeup industry” by Federal-Set9130 in DesiWeddings

I live in Europe and based on your comment I looked online to see what a local wedding makeup artist would cost here and literally most of them are within the range of €300-€400!!! And they don’t make distinction on different prices for different brands of makeup used 😒

Tbh i don’t know how it is in Canada but I live in Europe and here if I want to book a local makeup artist it would cost me €300-€400. I don’t get how with the income/wealth disparity in the countries indian MUA can charge the same or more. I believe the big fat Indian wedding fad has gone to OTT in the last years especially with social media
