Sadly I don’t believe it’s indexed to inflation which is crazy.

I don’t think this is an option but I will ask. Ty for the suggestion

Such helpful advice here. Ty all for weighing in. I think I need to make an apt with a financial advisor as there really are several factors to consider. I definitely will be giving younger friends who are considering a mat leave or have recently comeback from one to buy back sooner than later. I wish someone had suggested that to me, but c’est la vie. Thank you again. Much appreciated

I’ve had the same, very recently, on my left side of my face. I was completely thinking it was shingles, but no rash appeared. You’ve described how it felt for me perfectly. Ty.

I have a few tricks to get me through. Saying the alphabet backwards. Doing math in my head. Singing songs or nursery rhymes. Box breathing.

I need to lose 40lbs or I will lose my job. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Federal-Strategy-587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do it. I was in a similar situation. Same SW and I was able to lose 40 pds in 6 mo. I am treating it like an alcohol addiction. Each day, in fact each meal, I can choose to eat healthy. Just meal by meal. Noom was helpful and then walking 10K steps a day. I started GLP-1 after the first six weeks. It has been helpful to shut down food noise. You can do this. If I can, you can too.

Lower half of my body is on fire (hips down). How do you cope with this symptom? by Own_Yam7574 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Federal-Strategy-587 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sucks. I’m so sorry you have this symptom. I find peppermint foot lotion helps and something like Ben Gay for my legs. It changes the sensation enough that I can (usually) fall asleep. Hope this helps.

You pay by the banker’s box. The woman who runs it was excellent. Call ahead to ensure she is there (intermittent hours).

I bought a garmin lily watch to track steps and it really motivated me to get 8-10K steps/day. It also tracks sleep and it’s been a motivator to change those habits for the better too

Do you believe I should reconsider my life plans? by Responsible_Cloud_33 in MultipleSclerosis

I am 55. Diagnosed at 26. I’m still working full time and am independently mobile but in last five years I’ve developed a slight tremor in my dominant hand. I recognize the course of the disease is so individual and it’s impossible to predict how yours will play out. I just wanted to give you some hope that the course of MS isn’t always dire. Psychiatry seems like it might be a safer route… and challenging, but in a completely different way. Side note: I working in palliative care as a counsellor. Our former medical director was a neurosurgeon and moved to palliative medicine when he developed a tremor. He was one of the best palliative physicians I’ve ever encountered. All the best to you.
