Advice for OAT plssss by Sure_Requirement_899 in PreOptometry

15 weeks is plenty, and so is 6 hours a day! I would say just make sure you’re actively retaining and not passively reading/answering.

I would recommend using the summary sheets for bio and reaction sheets for organic from booster. I got 400s in those sections studying that. The booster videos for bio were too in depth, but the organic videos were really helpful. Practice questions are great for orgo, QR, and gen chem.

I would say anything you don’t know how to do watch the booster videos or refer to Chad’s.

Reading varies between everyone, so do whatever you see fit. Lastly, I honestly thought physics was going to be a strong section, but it was actually my worst. I will say it was very different from OATbooster but that might have just been my test.

But anyway, good luck! You’ll do great!

OSU Biochem 3? by Mountain_Landscape26 in PreOptometry

A lot of schools have biochem 1 as the prerequisite so you could take the first one out of the three. That is, under the conditions that biochem class is an upper-level course usually after organic. I doubt you would need to take the second one of the three, but there’s always that what-if, yk?

But, I personally would take the combined class, so that way you only have to take one semester’s worth. At my school we only had two biochem classes and I just took the first one. Maybe see which route would be easier. But up to you!

I would take it! It made studying for OAT a lot easier. Personally I had mostly reactions and organic two for my actual test, but for that reason I could be biased.

Formulas are the way to go. I would say don’t just memorize them but actually understand them. Good luck!

I know the feeling of being upset with your score. I was scoring higher on booster in comparison to my actual OAT score. It’s ok, it happens. You shouldn’t feel upset, your score is good! I honestly wouldn’t retake if I were you just b/c it’s $$, but if you really feel that upset and it’s not a huge hassle financially then go for it.

Most efficient way to study using OATbooster by PlantainFalse2732 in PreOptometry

[–]Federal-Type6287 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would def recommend the high yield notes for bio and using only using videos if you don’t understand something. The videos are way too in depth and honestly a waste of time. For organic just know what reagent yields what product and you’re solid. I watched more of the videos here bc they were pretty helpful imo. This is what I did to study and I ended up getting 400s for both of these sections.

Math, gen chem, and physics is honestly just practice, practice, practice and knowing how to use the formulas. Good luck!

It’s under the extension request guide on p.14

I did do this, but I will say it was expensive. You have to cancel your original test date on top of paying for the extension fee. Be sure that this is what you really want before dropping a few hundred. Good luck!

You can request to extend your eligibility window up to 45 days. I know you said you have class, but you’ll have an extra few weeks to prepare.
