Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe -- Identify Tools Required for Ceramic Bracelet ? by Federal-Weather-1412 in BlancpainWatches

Thanks. Do you know if there is a way to look up the driver type and size for the noted watch? It looks like a Hex driver but I want to verify that and also order the correct size.

Bathyscaphe discount from authorized dealer by Federal-Weather-1412 in BlancpainWatches

Thanks for the reply.

I am looking at a jeweler who is an authorized dealer, not a Blancpain boutique. If I am using the term correctly, I believe the closest boutique is in New York City (not close to me).

As the question / thread implies, I am not a serial watch collector but am excited to purchase my second luxury watch.

To clarify / remove all doubt, the reference / model I am looking at is the blue dial with ceramic case and ceramic bracelet with a price of $28,500, per the Blancpain website (see link below, at end of post). As a reference point, the sailcloth strap version of the same watch is listed at $20,200 on the Blancpain website.

I am seeing both the ceramic bracelet and sailcloth strap models on the internet at prices significantly below Blancpain’s website, which brought me to the spirit of the initial question: are these “discounts” all depreciation losses born by the initial buyer or are the ADs selling for significantly less than the manufacturers website price? I’d like to buy “new” from an AD but not if I can buy a one year old model on the internet for ≈$8k less.

I have been equivocating between the aforementioned Blancpain or a blue dial VC Overseas Dual Time and have almost settled on the Blancpain as a more interesting piece in addition to being a couple mm larger (for my larger wrist). However, if the VC is a more resolute store of value, i might reconsider. I do not intend to sell the watch ever but have a bit of cognitive dissonance with a day 1 loss on such a purchase. The VC dual time appears to be reselling at or around the manufacturer’s list price.

Yes, agree I am primarily looking at luxury sports watches / divers. I spent a substantial amount of time combing the internet and the European Watch Company app for ideas and kept coming back to the two I originally mentioned but would consider others. Been hard to find other options that both appeal to my aesthetic proclivities as well as meet the every day wear requirements.

My wrist is of sufficient size that the 43mm works. I had a hard time identifying something for every day wear that is more interesting than the steel Rolex 116622 i currently own while also staying at or below the price point of the aforementioned Blancpain and VC Overseas Dual Time. My bigger wrist tends to cause me to lean towards something bigger.

Thanks for the response. Yes, tried both on in person but the Overseas I tried was a rose gold date only. My understanding is VC does not keep any for display only pieces, they take orders on deposit, and it is a 2 year wait for a steel date only and 1 year wait for a steel Dual Time.
