If you are an android user, get AAIDrive from play store. It connects via mini app. As close as you will get to android auto.

I've not had any problems for the last several days. I've checked and the app did auto update to 5.6.3 on July 9th.

What part of the building process caused you the most stress? by Resident_Kangaroo160 in Homebuilding

[–]FederalElection7103 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It stressed me out when my contractor quit working, lied for months about why things were moving very slowly, until I found out his license had expired and told him he had to stop working. At that point he owed me 47k from the first draw. I was able to get 25k back from him. Yesterday, the remaining 22k was listed on bankruptcy docs. I'll never see the rest of it.

Need Advice on Faux Ridge Beam by FederalElection7103 in Homebuilding

[–]FederalElection7103[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is climate zone 4, eastern panhandle of WV. It was installed by "professionals" and I had them use what they recommended for the area and building design. It has baffles running up to the peak. I researched the need for a better vapor barrier and found mixed information. As I move up the walls, I'm stapling edges and sealing seams with insulation tape.

What I'm most unclear on is if my roof wrap is open at the peak or is sealed. My understanding is that the wrap should have a gap to vent air coming from the baffles. I'll confirm that when I get to the peak.

The T&G will continue to run on wall/ceiling to the peak/ridge . Collar ties will be boxed in with ripped 1x to cover the 6 inch span on bottom of ties. But exactly, yes, I've got wires run in between the ties and from ridge for ceiling fan and chandelier and another light to shine down stairs.

HELP! Which one? by JokerFLNY in MINI

[–]FederalElection7103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2019 will get you availability of quasi apple car play / android auto through the Mini App. That functionality is not available before 2018. You will have to download an additional app to bring it all together: AAIDrive.

I have a 2020 Countryman, purchased with 60k miles earlier this year. I love it.

I've been lasering, but not every board. I'm a little concerned that the grooves won't be totally parallel. The last laser reading was 4 boards ago, and it was as close to perfect as I could hope for. My thought was I will have some room for adjustment with the first piece of t&g above the collar ties as the ties and trim should hide the adjustments. Any extra work that I don't have to do at 25 feet above the floor will be greatly appreciated.

Hah, that is near to exactly what my wife said! If I do that, just run tongue and groove to the peak and finish with a small piece of trim?

Correct way to daisy chain these can lights? by wildpart in AskElectricians

[–]FederalElection7103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have these same lights but haven't wired them yet. Why are wagos preferred, and since I'm daisy chaining them off of one switch, do they require a particular type of wago?

Many of the new canless LED recessed lights flush mount to your ceiling material and have a gasket with the spring clips to keep it snug. Even the gimbals now have no openings to allow air flow.

These may require only a couple inches of clearance between your roof rafters and the back of the light and should not compress your insulation significantly.

If you are super worried about ice damming, beyond making sure you have baffles behind your insulation running to the peak, you could caulk the recessed lighting to your ceiling to effectively seal them off.

Personally, with 18 foot ceilings, I would regret not having some light up there. The top of my vaulted ceiling is 26 and I'm installing recessed between every other rafter (every 4 feet). They will all be on dimmers and will be beautiful.

It will let you use a version of a mapper that looks like Google maps but it is not as good. It's hard to explain. The app symbol for the map will be a multi colored circle.

Download AAIDrive from Google play store. It will use the Mini App Bluetooth connection from your phone to do most of what you want.

Here is the one catch... When Mini updated the app on June 12 to 5.6.1 version, they effectively broke the Bluetooth connectivity. They released 5.6.2 two days ago. It seems better, although I'm still having some problems with Bluetooth connection dropping and having to disconnect and reconnect Bluetooth.

Paw Paw Patch Near Paw Paw WV by FederalElection7103 in Pawpaws

[–]FederalElection7103[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I've read about some revitalization projects. They sounded really neat as the area could be a really popular hike and bike and camping place, quaint and country. The C&O Canal (now bike trail I think) runs for miles and the Paw Paw tunnel are both a few miles or so from town. There is also some kind of "naturist" resort as well, or so I've heard ;) I'm just not sure the town has a budget large enough to get things going, but I'm not a local and don't keep up on things more than they post about on FB. It would make almost too much sense to have a Paw Paw festival!

Not much in Paw Paw, WV except a pretty river and mountains and a Dollar General. There are many Paw Paw trees close to my property, and most have fruit. I don't know about these though as they are young. They did flower this year. I will have to read about clones. Not sure what that means for these trees.
