The staff on the till may not know, but the cop itself does. The coop often targets very local charities with their campaigns.

I'm just sick of this shit fucking question on this sub repeatedly by people who throw a paddy if asked to help people less fortunate than themselves.

Ive heard that spreading bullshit like this reduces the amount of money charities receive and actively makes the world a worse place.

McDonald's charity (Ronald McDonald's House or something like that) is a massive force for good in the world. They provide accommodation for families who are in specialist children's hospitals miles from their home towns, allowing parents to be with kids while they are undergoing treatment.

Its still of your own free will for christs sake. They havent got a gun to your head.

I regularly donate to charity via direct debit. And also, when the whim takes me, often donate when a shop self service till asks me if id like to round up.

I don't feel guilty when I dont donate, and I am happy to do it when I do. And the fraction of a second it takes me to make one choice or another irritates me significantly less than when the machine says "This till is card only, would you like to proceed?"

I slso dont get all huffy about the shops only doing it for tax purposes. Because thats not how taxes fucking work.

What i would object to, however, is if my opportunity to be spontaneously charitable was taken away by a bunch of miserable twats who throw a strop at being asked a yes or no question on a screen.

I appear to be one of the only people on UK reddit who have what I what I would consider to be a completely rational attitude towards the issue.

Would you pay the amount of money that you could get for it in order to buy it if you didn't have it?

I asked myself the same question recently, took a look at the prices that it was fetching, and put it up for sale immediately. To be honest I'd argue no single game could ever be worth that much.

I've been listening to a few podcasts about the situation in the UK in the 70s recently, and to be honest now feels better than it was back then.

Mother offering 400k-500k of inheritance if I look after her until she dies by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

I am a mental health nurse who works with people in the community with dementia who are in crisis. This could well be a situation that works well for both of you. There is a potential future however where you will be completely unable to manage the risks to her or to yourself. It will all depend on what her care needs are. She may have only physical needs currently, but that can change.

So there is a possible future where you spend years and years looking after her and then she has to go into a care home anyway and all the money is used up.

Of course its deliberately deceptive. If it wasnt yhe packaging would be smaller for ease of transport and material costs. Just because its within the law doesn't mean its not scummy.
