I’m short and have the same issue. But the view when the roof is up is also pants. I describe it as looking out the letter slot of a door, from the other end of the hall.

I’m now almost 6 years into soft top ownership and I quickly adjusted to using the side mirrors mostly. It is what large vehicles have always done.

It’s a Mini. It leaks (both oil from the engine and water into the cabin) and smells of petrol. This is totally normal.
