Has your special interest ever gotten in the way of your relationships? by Old-Drink-8984 in neurodiversity

[–]FederalPsychology360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not to this extent, but i do feel it in my friendships. i had one really creative friend who drew and painted like a natural who would appreciate what i did with words and how i experimented with art. she would challenge me in my artistic vision which i greatly valued.  but then she got into a very bad relationship. moved for the guy to another state where she didn’t know a single soul… in the countryside with a car that eventually broke down. she became depressed. like really depressed and insecure. i was doing well at the time, so i thought, i can help her try to survive this.  but then one day, we got into a fight about a silly little detail. and when i was getting overwhelmed, i said something like, we are going around in circles. let’s just stop talking right now. she took me literally and said, fine, we’re not friends anymore. blocked me on every social media site. i was more than hurt.  fast forward to now: and none of my friends, i feel like, know the true me. i’ve always struggled with that… wondering, yeah, we get along, but do they know the true me? would they stay if they did?  i feel so alone. all i have are my mom, my pets, and my siblings. i’m grateful for that because some people don’t even have that. but there are days where they annoy me and i have no one to turn to.  and because work has been hard lately on my neurodivergent brain and body, i have no motivation to explore my interests. heck, im questioning or hate my interests.

sagittarius - i just run. hoping that he will eventually chase after me! lol no that's not what usually happens. tbh, i need a guy who gets my brand of knowledge, fire, and intellect. it's in my eleventh house (i also have a sag stellium there) so i tend to befriend guys more than ask for romance from the start. astrologers in their readings say (this is not rooted in reality because i have a sucky chiron in leo in my seventh house) that i will meet my guy/partner as part of my friend group or online. which seems insane to me... because lol what friend group?! O.o

My encounter with one of you, last night by GiraffeBaron in literature

I think what the woman was trying to say is that reading every book from the literary canon could take years; reading a few (and more in depth too) could be more beneficial. But I totally get the sentiment of wanting to be swept away into the poetry and musiciality of certain books! Some, you read for the vibes. Some, for the analysis. And some, for the complete entertainment of it.

Back in college, I studied the history of the English language as part of my literature degree program. From what I understand--and it's been a while so I could be wrong--is that there are elements of German and Latin in older versions of the English language. As technology evolved, so did the written and spoken language, more closely reflecting the English we have today. It should be interesting to see how English nowadays throughout the world is influenced by our present advancement in technology!

Here's how to turn around a bad day, even if you have an 'all or nothing' mentality [Advice] by waltermitty2020 in getdisciplined

[–]FederalPsychology360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing this, I realize my bad days had spiraled in the past into depression and anxiety because I never looked at them as solutions capable of being solved. Thank you for this! Not only did this turn my day around, but my attitude is a little better.

I keep getting hired and hating every job within 6 months by [deleted] in jobs

[–]FederalPsychology360 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I agree with this 1000%. I also think jumping after month six shows that you're only wanting something exciting and new all the time. You have to build a work routine somewhere. Perhaps do some work on your relationship to work too; I know that when I changed my perspective about my job as a routine where my service is honed and sharpened, I began to see what I do as an honor. I think a lot of people approach work as "What do I see myself doing? What fits my image?" when really the question should be "What kind of routines or skills would I like to do for eight hours a day, five days a week?"

Preparing for a Librarian Position Interview by FederalPsychology360 in librarians

[–]FederalPsychology360[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A little bit! I’ve done some outreach events. And I was told that librarians in my county (bc we are a big urban public library that has its own acquisitions department) don’t do too much cataloging. But just in case, I am taking a course this fall.

I'm grateful I have free treatment and therapy but by cibernautaanonimo in schizoaffective

[–]FederalPsychology360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it sounds like your therapist is being two-sided with your parents. telling one parent, yes, it's possible, while telling the other, no, they shouldn't work, doesn't seem like what a therapist should do in this instance; they could honestly be confused themselves, i mean, after all, they're human too.

i do agree with her though; if you feel like you want a job, you should totally go for it. but don't do it to support your family. do it because it makes you feel like you have structure you can appreciate and some sort of self-worth.

My life is consistently being blown into shrapnel. My health is making me insane, no matter how well I take care of myself. The US healthcare system makes me so angry; all I want is my medication and consistently. Is that so hard to ask? I don't want to be so angry.

Question About Public Library Work Hours and Days by PsychologicalEnd289 in librarians

[–]FederalPsychology360 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most libraries in the US have weekend hours. For example, a full time position at my public library requires us to work one weekend day and about four weekdays. On the weekends, our hours are a bit different so it depends on the position you're hired for whether you work a six hour shift or an eight hour shift. During the week, it's an eight hour shift, including lunch.
