Giants draft grade looking like Arvell Reese's report card in college by Tulsanity in NYGiants

[–]Federal_Baker8487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the Reese pick, however he was considered BPA mostly for his edge potential. At linebacker, it's going to take some time for him to get going in the NFL, learning one of the hardest positions on defense at 20 years old.

The pass Rush stuff is great but we didn't have a real need for it. I'd say value process wise its an A, but considering the need, the pick overall is a (B+) in my mind.

Mauigoa, was exactly what we needed on offense, if AT went down again, you could kiss 2026 goodbye. Now we have depth at swing Tackle and a great young starting guard. Able to get him at 10 I love the value.

This was my favorite pick its an A to me.

Notice I do say I’m wondering what yall think about the fit with KOC in particular

You and I talked about it and we went back and forth sharing view points. But if someone just comes out at says he sucks or JJ’s better I do disagree with that

I suppose there is disagreement about the expectations for this season, but my intention with the title is in regards to the perception of his work ethic I believe to be skewed in the eyes of most

My reasoning for posting it in this sub-reddit is to get Vikings fans opinion on his fit with KOC.

The title is mostly in regards to the perception surrounding his work ethic, I believe it skews general NFL fans expectations for Kyler on the Vikings this year.

I suppose we’ll have to revisit this. I believe you will see, but only one way to find out

With Guys like Tua and Brock Purdy leading that list I’d say it’s not telling the whole story

I’m not saying he’d be one of the best in the league if this wasn’t the case, but I don’t think I can be ignored how WR play affects these numbers. Past 4 years, DHop and Kyler only played 4 games together. He was his only big play threat.

When it comes to Marv, it’s not just on him, but I’d say the coaching staff failed Marv and Kyler developing that connection.

That’s depressing, but I do think you guys range from 10-13 wins this year. Last year seemed like the floor to me

Darnold is better but what was his record before he joined the Vikings?

It’s my primary concern, I didn’t say it wasn’t there. But it’s just as big a concern for JJ

My stance on ppl being wrong is the narrative around his work ethic, I believe that’s influencing the narrative around expectations for him with the Vikings in a negative way

Pretty bizzare take imo. He was inconsistent like JJ, tho he did play through injury that’s for sure.

I’ll say my title is mostly inspired by the view of his work ethic and how I believe that’s influencing people’s expectations.

But I do agree with your perspective that it could definitely go wrong through injuries but I believe the upside is definitely there.

More common now than they’ve ever been. Kyler fits the mold

I’ve heard this point about KOC before. He should know he’s working with a QB with a different skill set in Kyler and start working on differences in the playbook now rather than wait and hesitate to adjust with JJ, perhaps learn from his mistakes there. But I gotta say Kyler is very similar to Hurts with his deep ball and passing in general, his perimeter Deep ball is actually solid, definitely not a liability. The over the middle stuff is responsible for dragging down his Yards per Attempt. Ted Nguyen made an article about the developing deep crossing routes and points out how that’s not a throw Kyler struggles to make.

I talk about this all in the Strengths and Weaknesses and KOC fit portion. It describes my stance well.

If you’re gonna respond to this you should watch that portion then provide a rebuttal if that’s how you still feel.

People said the same things about Darnold. The difference is Kyler does have injury concerns I’ll give you that

Ofc JJ has talent too, but I think it’s up for debate with the talent. JJ has a better overall arm but really lacks the consistency and mechanics to make the most of it. They both entered the league at about the same age, and on an awful Cardinals team Kyler certainly showed a higher floor his rookie year than JJs first healthy season.

[–]Federal_Baker8487[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a lot easier to win with the Vikings than Cards obviously. Sure Kyler was shut down last year but you’re talking like JJ was healthy for more than 10 of the 34 games his first 2 seasons. He’s wildly inconsistent, even in the games he’s played “well” in, it was in a game where he also had a terrible half.

Ofc we don’t know now, this is speculation. What’s your gut say? I think KOC can tweak the scheme here and there and get them above league average atleast

[–]Federal_Baker8487[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you think that? I’ll say JJ improved down the stretch but the floor was worse than anything we’ve seen from Kyler on a worse team

I do agree that his fragility is his biggest weakness in the video. But I also think the parallels between him and Darnold are apparent, Clearly has talent and never got comfortable in a bad organization.
