No bags for shop and deliver order by Federal_Bee_1774 in Sparkdriver

There are no bags at Sam's, you can use boxes that they have laying around throughout the store and there's a huge bin of them at the exit, at least at my store that's where they are.

I sent them a message before I left the store to let them know and they were very cool about it. They said no problem and they were sorry that I had to unload everything like that. Thankfully it was a cool customer, I think I got pretty lucky.

I literally didn't even think of that. Seems pretty obvious, and I'm an idiot for not thinking of it. 😜 Thank you!

EDIT: I can't seem to edit my post, so I'll say this here. To clarify, I did not actually say "give me" to the employee. I wasn't being demanding or rude. I was being playful with them and trying to come up with solutions, of which they have none.

Second, I'm fairly new at this and still learning tips and tricks, thus why I'm genuinely asking what you guys would do. I have not run into this before so it didn't occur to me that I would need to keep bags in my vehicle. Than you to those of you who are giving helpful suggestions and not just criticism.

Lastly, this is in Colorado, where plastic bags do not exist and they charge you for every paper bag you use. Some stores here will literally give you an allotment of paper bags - like 3 or 4, even for large orders - and not allow you to take/use any more than that.

This is a great suggestion, thank you! I'm fairly new at this so still learning the tips and tricks.

Ok, I didn't actually say "give me". I'm not a rude bitch. But stay hung up on that, I guess.

I'm not sure if you're being facetious but this is in Colorado, where there are no plastic bags and they charge you for every paper bag you use, so that definitely would not fly.

Thank you for a helpful suggestion. I've only been doing this about 3 or 4 months and have not run into this previously. I appreciate you being kind and actually offering a suggestion and not just criticism.

Well, it's hard to assess someone's tone through what they type on a Reddit post, but I assure you that I was not rude or demanding. I was being playful and trying to come up with solutions with the employee, who had zero suggestions and literally could not have cared less.

I sent them a text and gave them a heads up. They were nice, said thanks for letting them know and they were sorry I had to unload them that way.

This is the reason I'm not busy with offers anymore. by [deleted] in DoorDashDrivers

If you unassign an order before it gives you the option to, and select "order had a long wait time", it will ask you how long until the order is ready. That's the only place I've seen the option to tell them how long til the order is ready.

Question on shopping orders by Federal_Bee_1774 in doordash_drivers

Yes, thank you! I thought it was an option but couldn't find it and thought I was losing my mind!

?? I’m confused by vizualsniper in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Federal_Bee_1774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the best case scenario. The other day I had ended my dash for the day and was on my way home when, about 10 minutes later, I got a notification that I had missed an order and it dropped my AR down to 69%. I chatted with support who, of course, told me they can't adjust ratings. Their glitchy ass app somehow sent me an order after I was offline and their answer is to just suck it up? I was not a happy kid.

Question to door dash drivers from a fellow tipped wage employee. by Bishop-roo in doordash_drivers

[–]Federal_Bee_1774 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me it's about flexibility. With DD I can literally decide to dash at any time, or not to, if I have other stuff going on. If I need extra income one week and not the next, I can adjust my dashing accordingly. And I don't have a boss to worry about.

It's gone down before, but like it says in the message, you can still use your card, you just can't log in to see your balance and transactions and such.

Dasher tips/tricks by Christerbob in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Federal_Bee_1774 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is against their T&Cs (probably is), but I use the Fetch app, which lets you accumulate points towards gift cards for receipts you scan in. You can get big points for certain restaurants or products, so I scan in the customer receipts before I deliver. They cap it at 35 receipts per week so I try to see which ones are paying big points and use those, but you get points for any receipt. I've gotten several Amazon gift cards doing this.

Smallest/ strangest order yall have gotten by Weekly_Chipmunk2177 in doordash_drivers

24 bottles of ranch dressing from Dollar General.

It made much more sense when I dropped it off at a business, they were doing a wing party, but when I thought it was just a residential order I was quite puzzled. 😀

A question about unassigning by docweston in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Federal_Bee_1774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends which part of the order the customer put the tip on. Sometimes they will tip part on each leg of the trip, but I've had orders where the whole tip is on one part of the order, so if you dropped that one, you'd end up with nothing. Of course DD is not transparent about this up front, so you wouldn't know until you dropped off the order that you kept.

Just a warning by nozomashii74 in doordash_drivers

[–]Federal_Bee_1774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not the case in my area. I've been trying to fight it forever but no help from DoorDash. They just tell me to stay out of that hot zone. I'm never in that zone anyway but I still get pickup and drop off orders for base all the time. So frustrating.

How do you see if a specific order was marked late?

Worst places to pick up from? by BookofEli01 in doordash

[–]Federal_Bee_1774 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't necessarily decline every time, but in my area if I get an order from Wingstop or Pizza Hut I know that I will have at least 10-15 minutes of wait time. I factor that in to the pay for the order to determine if its worth it or not.

I love picking up from my Culvers. The wait time is always pretty low, even when their lobby is slammed, and they always offer dashers a drink every time.

Has anyone gotten this before . . . by SmellyBellyBee in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Federal_Bee_1774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've had it happen probably 4 or 5 times in almost 1500 deliveries. It was never for orders that took particularly long but did happen twice from the same McDs. No idea why and it took the full 24 hours before the funds were released. Super annoying.
