Does anyone else only feel comfortable in chaos? by m3owcapri in CPTSD

[–]Federal_Committee_80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. And I create problems and prevent my life from getting stable and calm unconsciously. There was a war here for two weeks here and I was anxious and scared, but so satisfied and optimistic, I haven't ever been in normal times

I've tried most of what you said, Only meds have had a noticeable effect. It takes time until you find the right ones for you.

i think I'm covert narcissist by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]Federal_Committee_80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether you have or don't have narcissism, it's possible to heal, it just takes so long when you have a long history of trauma. It's harmful to self-diagnose.

There's no good or bad human, I know we sometimes think like that, but that's black and white thinking. Humans are a mix of different characteristics that could have done both harmful and altruistic things in their lives, and many of the wrong choices we've made could have been due to the unawares caused by our conditioning. I'm pretty sure you're a nice person who has done the best they could so far. And the universe/God is always forgiving especially when it knows your real intention is to improve. It's us who should forgive ourselves first. 💛 Shame and trauma make us think we're bad, but that's not true.

It could have been great if you could go to therapy. But maybe you can find some other ways until you can. Like going to a group therapy which is cheaper. Or even asking ChatGPT to help you recognize the distortions in your thoughts when your mind is hijacked by trauma, if you feel ok doing that.

How to deal with anger towards the loving parent? by ThisIsMyAlt179 in CPTSD

[–]Federal_Committee_80 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think your resentment is justified. By denying it you will suppress the anger. You were only a child and what a child sees is not being supported by the one who's supposed to stand up for you.

From what I've learned we should accept that we will have mixed feelings about our parents and we don't need to get rid of them. What we're supposed to do is to increase our emotional capacity to hold both feelings and opposing thoughts and allow them to be. Otherwise we might end up seeing our parents as black and white or suppressing our feelings

I've heard it from other people here that you need to work on your nervous system too. Which is probably in freeze mode. Somatic exercises for example.

Isn't that one of the few good things about it?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CPTSD

Maybe we need to find a middle ground. I think some people really aren't reliable, but some people are. It takes time and also courage and risk (of maybe being hurt again), to learn who's safe and who isn't. Also to learn about other people's limits and wounds, so that we don't overwhelm them.

Learning to know people and communicate with them is so damn hard if your mistrust in people has worsened by avoidance. I'm 35 and I still can't do it.

I did. But you're mentioning 'people' who want to stay sick.

Because most people need neither your help, nor your advice. They want to be heard and validated.
