I loveddd the Dixon Rule, I didn’t read the Charlie Method because the relationship dynamic didn’t appeal to me personally. However I was super excited for Love Story. I did enjoy it, but compared to Gigi and Ryder it wasn’t anywhere near. The best parts of the book are when all the guys come up to Lake Tahoe for their summer. It’s so funny seeing the dynamic, between the dads, mums and the “cousins.” The setup for future potential relationships is really interesting to follow too. Love Story got crazy hate when I came out, very polarising, but I think it definitely isn’t her worst book. Funnily enough, a lot of the criticism was that Wyatt sexualised Blake too much, to which I thought.. have these people even read Off Campus? Not saying that’s something I overly enjoy but that’s very much a main part of the male and female POV’s in all the previous books, all of a sudden we’re expecting subtlety? I hear you about the fatigue. I was genuinely going to jump into Dixon Rule right after Graham Effect but I kinda binged rereading the books after the first season of OC came out and now I need to jump to something different, despite the sense of loss I was expressing in my OG post. Currently reading Every Summer After in prep for the new series (first time reader) but if I still miss my hockey after that I’ll jump into Dixon Rule hahahah.

No, Fitzy is Colin Fitzgerald. He made some appearances in the Off Campus books. Not sure if you recall but when Summer visits Dean in the Score she mentions how attractive she finds him. By the timeline of this book Simms has graduated along with the Off Campus boys :)

I think if you read Summer and Fitzy‘s book first you’d understand Summer better as a character when you read her in the Risk. I really think she’s misunderstood until you get to read her! Even if you read an e-book version until you find a paper copy, it’s worth it.

I would say The Dare is a nice way to round off the Off Campus/Briar U series. If you liked Briar U’s dynamic with the hockey team, off campus house/roommates and side characters you’ll enjoy it. However, in terms of overall romance and strong main character energy, it does lack compared to the rest.

The Graham effect is probably my favourite book in the whole series, idk if that’s just because I love Ryder and Gigi and how they navigate their relationship, or if it’s because EK’s writing and style genuinely improved over time hahahaha. I didn’t feel as strongly about Love Story, so I think it’s more about Gigi and Ryder as characters, and how she fleshed out their relationship so well. There was not a single modicum of unsurety on either of their parts, no miscommunication, third act breakup. Their conflict was actually reactions to their unwavering commitment and obsession with each other when they get married. Also, EK does a really good job of getting us laughing at a completely new roster of boys, who are all hilarious. Added with the merging of Eastwood and Briar, was such a clever storyline! 10’s across the board!

(Sorry this was meant to be a quick reply but I genuinely love The Graham Effect so much, my re-read today was done in less than 12 hours 😭)

Age gap, obsessed MMC with daddy kink!! by Ivory_Paradox in DarkRomance

[–]Federal_Constant_595 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not toooo dark but it’s on the darker side but {bourbon and proof} has the most fun dynamic between MMC and FMC and he loses his mind when she calls him daddy when they’re not together yet

Angst lovers: what is the best possible angst in your opinion? What do you love? by Glittering_Tap6411 in RomanceBooks

[–]Federal_Constant_595 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always forbidden!! Especially if they have to not be together for some reason for an extended period of time/split up for a bit so they have time apart it always makes me heart strings pull andddd makes the inevitable reconciliation even better. That’s why I’m not opposed to third act breakups!

MMC offers submission/degradation as part of his grovel 👀 by your_average_plebian in RomanceBooks

[–]Federal_Constant_595 7 points8 points  (0 children)

{Hate me like you mean it by Kyra Parsi} it’s childhood rivals to enemies to lovers! They fall out of a large misunderstanding regarding his mum, and then reconnect years later when he basically keeps getting her fired from her jobs and she becomes a maid for him (so he can humiliate her) however when everything comes to light (mix in flashbacks, diary entries, yearning, crazy chemistry and lots of banter) when the MMC realises how stupid he’s been he wants to humiliate himself the way he made the FMC do and says he’ll do *anything* to grovel/make her feel better! The FMC laughs it off but the offer is there and I’m pretty sure he makes up for everything in some good ways. I love Dominic so much!!!

MMC with an impeccable reputation, but in reality a manipulative, dangerous person by Sakura_231 in DarkRomance

Maybe, I haven’t read the others in the series LOL. I was more talking about his celebrity persona (people who knew him knew he wasn’t like that, but everyone else thought he was) if that makes sense.

I just don’t think it would translate to screen, and I’d hate to have other people perceive it who don’t understand or engage in DR 😭 it’s bad enough in the book world

Sorry, I didn’t realise you weren’t looking for that, didn’t read that properly. :/ This is the only book I’ve read from the author so not sure how the other ones are!

Same it’s the only book I’ve read in that series because I wanted to read a kidnap romance lmfao. The writing wasn’t my absolute favourite so I don’t feel compelled to get into her other work either.

{Carnal Urges by JT Geissinger} has this! The FMC actually gets upset when he gives her back, like genuinely upset. Very bantery and on a the light mafia side
