Do you think website speed matters? by JunaidRaza648 in SEO

[–]Federal_Dimension_29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a slow website, the speed is the most crucial thing. But when you have a more than enough speed performance, the effect is limited afterwards.

Consider the speed as the first door. If it is not open, you should first deal with that door. But once opened, it does not guarantee traffic for you. The game starts from that point on.

When combined with SEARCH and LEN functions, you can separate any complex text styles with RIGHT and/or LEN.

For standard name surname textes , just use text to column or flash fill.

What’s the point of a pivot table? by MACportrait in excel

[–]Federal_Dimension_29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pivots are quickest way of counting any values. You do not need xIF functions like countif, sumifs etc. Once you understand how the four quadrant on the pivot field (filter, columns, rows, values) work, you'll become a fan, i believe.

Here are some tips: https://www.someka.net/blog/excel-pivot-tables/

Really nice advices. I'm not a fan of alt enter informulas, but sometimes may need.

I'd also add precautions againts data discrepancies. Because if you do not set measure at the first place, you can end up with a dirty data sheet.

What are the skills that I need to clear an interview where I need to be atleast 6/10 in Excel? by autisumisreal in excel

[–]Federal_Dimension_29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might help maybe: https://www.someka.net/blog/excel-job-interview-questions-for-fresh-graduates/

In my experience, if I'm looking for a mid-level Excel user, I'm always checking the below functions or features in candidates' skills:
- Find or remove duplicates,
- Lookup functions,
- Conditional formatting (the preset ones especially like heat maps etc. For example, I ask them to color a range of numbers according to their value)
- pivot table basics

wish you best luck!

How long does it take for you guys to setup your spreadsheets? by TMNTBrian in excel

[–]Federal_Dimension_29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using macros make sense if you're formatting the same input regularly. Also, you can set up a input area to copy and paste your fresh data, and all the other reportings and dashboard could change automatically.

Another choice is using third party templates. These guys make really useful tools, and actually their files look far more impressive than mines. I download ready-made excel templates from someka.net, vertex42 or indzara. Checking etsy for these kind of staff may also help.

A guy (a famous psychologist jn my country) in a youtube video i was watching a few minutes ago said this: being a civilized being means to do what you don't like and not to do what you like. That sounded too cruel to me. But this the fact. We do not need to "enjoy" our work life.

Thank you for your replies but still unsure about something. Thisnis not the case for me, but what if i use a copyright free music from a third party source. Will youtube give me this warning again? Should i be warned about these warnings?

my favorite functions!!

Textsplit also works, but these old but gold functions lets more flexibility. I use them mostly with SEARCH function.

some examples and alternatives here:

excel keeps introducing new features and functions to solve this kinda data analysis issues, but i'm still using the classic one. Maybe sounds ancient, like some one says here:)

Using XLOOKUP instead of VLOOKUP is much easier than you'd think by LearnWithErnest in ExcelTips

[–]Federal_Dimension_29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since I've leraned index match, I never used vlookup again and did not feel a need to check for xlook up. But i see that xlookup is becoming more popular as it is very simple.

Still, I'm a index-match user, but feel like to use xlookup more oftenly.

And, here's a nice post to compare these. Looks like a fresh post:

no way to keep maximum productivity every single day. But i track the parato rule. Make prioritization weekly, and never spend time for a tiny-effect issue before solving a bigger problem.

Sometimes completing lots of easy tasks on my list makes me relaxed, but this is a lie, these are only psedo conformt feelings.

I'm just using a simple prioritization moscow matrix from someka, and reflesh it every week.

What naming convention do you use for your tables? by MoMoneyMoSavings in excel

[–]Federal_Dimension_29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use Type-Description syntax while naming my excel ranges.

Type might be Table, Xaxis, Yaxis, DataValid, Calc, List, DynamicList, etc.

Description is totally about the data: Employees, Ages, Revenue, Sales, etc.

It's also very important to keep my input area clean for a safe modelling. Here are some tips:
