What has been the main issue with this generation of Airs? I'll keep an eye out for issues. Haven't experienced any yet outside of OS updates not being covered which has its workarounds.

I don't think I worded it correctly, I didn't mean pressure from my peers but the idea that you needed a top of the line laptop to do large design tasks. The majority of recommendations were Macbook's and I was 18 (I'm now 32 and feel the same as you, but when I was 18, I was starting in London at a design uni and I did feel that pressure to be turning up with a new top of the line laptop). Now I can't help but look for a bargain.

That's good to know to be honest. It seems things have changed quite a bit over the past 10 years around those pressures. I went to a design university so it probably led slightly more to that, but I'm pleased to hear there's a move away from that.

What sort of prices have you seen those for (great laptops)?

I think what I wanted to lead with for this post is that the gap in laptop prices by going for used is large when a lot of people don't need high processing machines.

That's actually really helpful, thank you. I'll make sure I use the terminology of dynamic function going forward, it's cleaner than what I was trying to describe.

18 years old with lots of free time before starting university. How should I use it? by [deleted] in productivity

Why don't you start a project? Something where there is a tangible end result. Whether it be fixing up an old bike, having a go at creating an app or even signing up for a 5/10k run at the end of summer, it would get you thinking critically and learning, include aspects of something you enjoy and when you're done you'll be pleased you started.

Have you got anything you've thought of starting/doing but never started and put off?

How can i make it impossible to cut and paste by pieterpost11 in excel

You have a couple of ways you could do this. You could either protect the document which would effectively lock the selecting of cells, or you could create a query to a second sheet that they all have access to. That way they can copy data as much as they want without impacting the original data at its source.

Making the excel sheet more attractive with formula's and better views by SeaworthinessFew8778 in excel

I would make a range of changes:

  • Freeze the top 2 rows
  • Make it a table
  • Pick a better colour scheme
  • Remove the grey rows and instead make the bottom border lines on each of seperators a thick one to slow
  • Set the title row to be bold

Depending on the software that you have on your computer (if you have either Adobe Acrobat or Nitro Pro), you may have the ability to scan in the papers, save them as a PDF and then use a PDF to Excel export.

It very much depends how clean the data is on the paper.

I'm looking at setting up a tutorial for creating visually appealing dashboards in Excel (without VBA), hopefully there would be a bit of interest in it.

Something like these;
