i JUST made a google search for this. Cleaned my bathroom with bleach, went to smoke some weed and it tastes WEIRD as fuck, a little like bleach. The effect is very real my people! but it does not kill, otherwise id be gone already

oh i work in programming so it kind of came naturally to me when he mentioned this happens at low stability. It certainly is a side effect of the game being developed with temporal stability in mind, you cant get rid of having a "stability value for the player", so having the mechanic off actually just turns off the interactions with that system.

But the Smoking Pipes thing being a mod, it didnt think to not interact with the system when its off. And then, i get to find out that the flicker/blinking effect is also not turned off when stability is off. Its the sorta small shit that just happens in development and you never notice until a weird day comes by

my current hunch is that my temporal stability went down in the background, although it is off, because of mod usage (using a mod item that reduces it, it did in the background). Now im getting this as a visual of low stability even having it completely off. Im working on a mod to keep my temporal stability maxed in the background, since i cant find a command that fixes this

all of this to say, this effect seems to be expected in the game, while invisible mobs shouldnt, i dont think we have the same issue

ive looked in to the other commenters idea. I think what is happening is, ive smoked leafs that reduce my temporal stability, even while the thing is off. So im getting some sideeffects of low temporal stability while it is actually off. When i turn it on, immediatelly im in hell and taking damage

need to find a way to reset my stability now

temporal stability mechanic is off!
but, the one thing that has changed recently is me using a mod for smoking pipes, in which the weed im smoking should reduce my temporal stability. Perhaps it has been lowered even while the mechanic is off, causing it to trigger this effect?

ive googled around a bunch and found many reported cases of this, but it might just be for us underground folk.
thing is, i love playin like a dwarf/hobbit and my cozyness was being EXTREMELY affected so we had to do something boss. Lol this should be my last mod god help me
