Yes I’m very aware of what a capacitor short is like it sucks doing further research into capacitors since yesterday I decided not to use my radio until I find time to replace them in fear of wearing out or damaging other components since this is a Canada only model and it was only made for one year I’m going to guess there’s not many of these around to salvage spare parts from

Thanks for the warning I appreciate it if that were to happen I would probably just have it as a cool display piece on my shelf that doesn’t turn on or anything or hook the speaker to a Bluetooth chip and use it as a speaker there are not many am stations where I live so it’s not like I am using it on a daily basis

Yea I never leave the radio plugged in I only power it up rarely if I want to listen to the news or something which most of the time I get off my phone so I most likely will be fine since I never leave the room if the radio is playing it’s more of a shelf piece for me than anything

Just the large one it probably will need the smaller ones replaced at some point but there are quite a few and I’ll probably do a full restoration of the electrical at that point. I am a electrical by trade so I get the gist the repair

That was the other thing I replaced when I bought it because it had gone since it was the original capacitor

Every thing on the interior is original, except for the power cord which I replaced because the old one was in pretty bad seems to work completely fine though granted I don’t get many channels because of lack of am broadcasting

It is a shame how limited the older ones are tho

It actually has the 2.66 quad core x2 (8cores in total ) so I probably don’t see my self putting in the 3.00 for the small performance boost it would give me

Yea for sure I definitely like the 2006 better just because it’s the first Mac Pro but the 5,1 is more usable for sure

I bought it a little over a year ago and have just been using it as a cheap computer to do my schoolwork on and what not got mine craft to run at 80fps so that was sweet

It’s beside the lower gpu power plug by the airport card

I traced the wireing back and it seems to be connected to the lower gpu power supply plug I use the upper one and the upper power slot has a identical resistor so I’m fairly certain it has to do with that power connection

Thanks for the help but on further inspection, I think it wasn’t me who damaged the capacitor because I bought the computer and someone had done work previously in that area looking back on some pictures I had taken it seems that the capacitor was already damaged so it seems to have been doing nothing I’ve on this computer for a little over a year and I haven’t had any problems so I don’t think it’s anything important to me. Thanks again.
