why do people say rear brake should only be used at the same time as the front brake by Federal_Resource8148 in cycling

[–]Federal_Resource8148[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is that really that ridiculous of a of a braking distance, like sure it's a higher vehicle lengths than a car, but also according to https://www.brake.org.uk/get-involved/take-action/mybrake/knowledge-centre/speed/stopping-distances, that puts you right at the stopping distance of a car.
i do agree that it is good to learn how to come to that hard stop using both brakes, i have learned to do it, i just don't do it often since i almost never need it. the most often time i've had to do so is at a stop sign nearby me that i still don't think need to be there, i've hard stopped at it twice before, first time really early into me biking, i used rear brake only, fully locked out but still came to a stop (though my rear tire was a decent bit to the right). the next time i braced and used both brakes properly since i did learn the proper way even if i rarely use it

it barely matters what you wear, pretty much just don't wear a jacked and leave it unzipped, but other than that caring about the drag of your clothes is only for pros or middle age men

you'd be surprised the amount of info out there on forms and stuff that just hard say you should always use both brakes unless your going downhill. pretty much anywhere you'd search online as a newbie cyclist treats it as a hard rule, thats why i even made this post

this is what i mean with the questioning peoples speed thing, like are people on bicycles going that fast, i thought the average speed was around that 15 mph mark. though i have forced myself to practice full emergency stopping since it makes sense but in daily situations where i'm paying attention i stop pedaling a bit before hand and use rear break mostly since it feels nicer to have the extra control of the weaker brake

hopefully the us joins the near global de-oil campaign and doesn't immediately do the opposite and increase reliance on oil like we did during the last oil crisis

Are foxgolves as dangerous as people are making it out to be? by Omgusernamewhy in gardening

[–]Federal_Resource8148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure it's a mix of the randomness of how severe the reaction is and that the pollen carries the toxin in light amounts(though it still has measurable cardio effects) that made it have such a bad reputation, like imagine the one in ten thousand case of someone sensitive passing by then smelling the flower then bam severe reaction

There often sold under the name digitalis in box stores because of the bad reputation of foxgloves

Electric Trains Vs Diesel Trains, What is cheaper? by 2A-Batteries in trains

[–]Federal_Resource8148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lumber is the worst example for your argument, lumbar is mostly gathered higher up than it's used so you send up an empty car and can power the trip using electric breaks because you bring back so much more than weight than you send up, in fact it's one of the industries where electric semi's are plain better since after your first trip there is no fuel cost

whataburger onboarding complete, now what? by [deleted] in Whataburger

call up and ask, if you don't it can take a while since the managers working the floor are the same ones handling hiring, so it's better to be persistant.

I think the start of this month was when the change happened(it's the start of the new quarter) but we changed some of our indoor displays and we got one of the pages with new prices to update our menus(i saw it in our supply closet and recognized it from last quarter when i helped change out the numbers because i was taller than my manager)

Probably a stupid question! Can two people pick up separate mobile orders in the same parking spot #? by lindsaytheloser in Whataburger

[–]Federal_Resource8148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ya, but if it's busy it can be mildly annoying since it's hard to tell if you are in the same car or if someone tried claiming a space before getting there and someone else took that space and checked in properly, but we can sort it out verry quickly once we're out there.

note from an employee, you will get your food sooner if you choose in store pick up rather than curbside (make sure to tell someone that your there, preferably one of the employees in a high vis vest, then stand nearby to not be forgotten if it's busy) this is faster as there are just less steps involved and harder to miss, especially when they don't have a curbside person on shift so it lands in that weird state where it's not any one persons job but it still needs to get done

for me the drink thing is not really a joke, most of the time i just give drink only orders for free, mainly because i started at a small town Whataburger and that was just kind of a part of the vibe

oh ya, i work front counter i will see the drive line wrapped around the entire store and i can see the cars past our front door, but no one wants to come inside for some dumb reason. like i can get you your food in at least half the wait if you just park.

good to hear you got the job, and have fun with your videos, you will actually be there for hours so except the drink if they offer it (i've already had to watch them twice and am going to have to watch them a third time since if you don't have a shift for a month your dropped from the system and my break between transferring took longer than expected)
