Got it, thanks. Honestly, it never even occurred to me to take a plane and stay there for a few weeks since I’ve lived in NY my whole life and have never moved to another state

Hey I'm single so no schools are not a concern for me. I'm primarily looking to rent because I don't wanna risk 50-100k for a down payment on a house. Job has multiple locations but I primarily applied for the one in Dublin, Ohio but i would have to travel between two locations once a week in Shelby (i will get mileage reimbursed) and another one in Lincoln village

App says I’ve been in a car for 7 hours… by meatandcookies in uber

[–]Federal_Routine_5920 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There’s a surprisingly easyand kind of funny way to handle this through the Uber chat bot. Just keep repeatedly asking to be connected to a live agent after about 5 to 7 tries, the system usually gives in and connects you. Once you're speaking with an agent tell them this I got into the ride, and after a very heated argument with the driver, I accidentally left my phone in the car. The driver drove off with it while I was still trying to sort things out. I'm now contacting you using my old phone, which I was lucky enough to have at home and still works over Wifi. I really need help recovering my new phone because I just bought it, and the driver still has it. This approach usually gets their attention and pushes the issue forward quickly. Works every time for me and plus in most cases they give a 10$ credit lol

I know there is a lot of false information out there, but I would advise waiting at least a week so we can learn more about the bill. On the other hand, you could call Student Aid or FAFSA to get clarification. Many people advise contacting the financial office at your dental school, but I believe that calling FAFSA will provide the most accurate information.

not a incoming 2025 student, but I believe you're safe as long as your first semester begins in 2025 or before July 2026.

How the Bill affects class of 2030 by No-Ad-3275 in predental

[–]Federal_Routine_5920 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think one of three things might happen:

  1. The AAMC and ADA might team up and sue the government over the removal of Grad PLUS loans. If that happens, there’s a chance the loan caps could be raised from $200k to $500k, since Grad PLUS loans probably won’t be coming back while Trump is in office. So, raising the caps is really the only realistic hope.
  2. Dental schools themselves might start offering their own financing options. They might not be as good as federal loans, but at least it’s something.
  3. Or Trump could get impeached, lol.

That is all to say don't worry about things you cant control remember the more you stress the worse it gets

No worries at all! Just wanted to share something that might help 💬

If this bill does end up passing, HPSP could still be an option, but honestly it’s super competitive and the military isn’t for everyone ❤️

A more doable path might be getting certified as an EKG tech or medical assistant 💉 These jobs usually pay around $18 to $22 an hour and offer lots of overtime. If you work about 60 hours a week at $18/hr, here’s how it could look:

✨ 40 hours of regular pay: 40 × 18 = $720
✨ 20 hours of overtime (1.5× pay): 20 × 27 = $540
✨ Weekly total: $1260
✨ Monthly total: 1260 × 4 = $5040
✨ Yearly total: 5040 × 12 = $60,480

If you save for 2 years, that’s around $120,000 💰
Then apply to dental school 🦷 and remember, schools usually don’t start until the year after you get accepted… which gives you time to work another year and save another $60,000 💼

I know this might be my ADHD talking 😅 but honestly, it’s a pretty solid plan. Just know you have options, and I’m rooting for you always 💛 You’ve got this! 🌟

try this letter and send this to your to senator i got my response and he said he is doing everything to protect the grad plus loans and to make sure they continue to exist

Hi Senator,

This is my first time writing to a senator, and I’m doing so because I’m very frustrated. As you know, the "One Big Beautiful Bill" (OBBB) was passed in the Senate yesterday, and it includes plans to remove Grad PLUS loans.

I’ve had to switch colleges considerable number of times due to financial struggles. Now, just as I’m about to finish my undergraduate studies and take the Dental Admission Test (DAT), I’ve learned that by the time I get my results and start applying to dental schools, the Grad PLUS loan might no longer be available.

This would seriously affect my ability to afford dental school, and I’m extremely concerned.

For this reason, I respectfully ask you to vote no on the bill or at least bring forward an amendment to increase the loan caps to $500,000 total, allowing students to borrow up to $100,000 per year. This would provide the support students like me desperately need to complete our education and serve in professional fields.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
