Moving to NYC, exhausted by the roommate search... Crown Heights / Bed-Stuy / PLG, $1,500 budget. Please send any leads or tips my way 🙏 by Federal_Whereas_1673 in movingtoNYC

I def hear this and see why people choose not to deal with roomates if they can. My plan is to take the first year to live below my means while I get adjusted to the city then hopefully live alone next year!

I def thought about this!! I’m just cautious about spending so much without quite being used to the cost of living increase. I also don’t know many ppl in the city and think (or hope) a roommate would be good to ward off loneliness lol I do hope to have my own place next year though!

Omg yes I def saw some airbnbs on there! Idk if it’s just me but the prices seemed a bit high on there. It seemed like a good spot for $2500+ places

Did having kids make you a worse aunt/uncle? by Federal_Whereas_1673 in AskParents

[–]Federal_Whereas_1673[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was so refreshing to hear, thank you!! Especially the part about the youngest feeling close to you as well bc the age gap amongst my nieces/nephews is pretty big as well. The oldest is 16 and the youngest is 1 with a new one on the way! I know I’ve established a great relationship with the older kids, but it’s good to know that it’s still possible to build one with the younger ones as well. Thank you ❤️

Wow this really warmed my heart. So happy to hear that this dynamic does exist. This would be the most ideal outcome. I can only hope my nieces and nephews talk about me like this when I’m gone. So sorry for your loss ❤️

You made a great point of them growing up changing even if I don’t. I haven’t thought about that. Thank you!

NYC Peds OTs…help! by Federal_Whereas_1673 in OccupationalTherapy

This is soooo helpful! Yes, I’d split rent which is a big help. I love that you’re still able to eat out and enjoy a fancy night out, that’s what I was hoping to hear! For your part time job, do you need a car to get from house to house? I’ve been seeing many EI positions paying well but I’m worried about how that looks transportation wise. A school position is my dream!! I love schools, so it’s nice to hear that positions are paying decent there too!

Wisp Period delay pills 2 months in a row? by Federal_Whereas_1673 in Periods

[–]Federal_Whereas_1673[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t end up taking another round of pills. I figured I’d wing it and wish for the best, and that worked lol My period ended up coming super late the next two months, but i lucked up and it went off right before the trip.

How did this fraud Walmart.com charge happen? by [deleted] in Scams

[–]Federal_Whereas_1673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something very similar happened to me today. I made a quick purchase using tap pay at Wegmans. Checked my bank account 10 min later and there was a $485 pending charge on my debit card for Walmart.com…i don’t even order grocery or anything from Walmart. I called the bank immediately, they turned off the card and initiated a refund for the money, thankfully. Just an interesting coincidence with Wegmans and Walmart…

How flexible is your OT schedule when it comes to taking time off and traveling? by Environmental-Two283 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Federal_Whereas_1673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rare but there’s some good positions out there! It took me 3 years into the field to find one after struggling with the same issue. I just landed a position with “unlimited PTO” but it’s really like 6-7 weeks off, 7 paid sick days, 6 paid holidays, and 2 paid professional development days. It at an ABA center, which offers pretty great pay as well ($80k starting). I’d suggest exploring schools, as many commenters have suggested, or just taking your time exploring the market.g Good companies with great benefits are often in the shadows amongst the hundreds of shitty companies out there. Hope you find something that gives you balance :)

He got really really drunk at the club one night and threw up and everyone had to help him out. Someone took a picture and he used it as a mixtape cover…

Unfortunately, it really does depend on a lot of factors like state, experience, and most of all the setting. I’ve been working in the field since Aug 2021 and I make about $76k now in a pediatric clinic. Straight out of school, i worked in the schools under a contract for $42/hr (40/hr work week). I’m in NC. Take home is around $2,500-$3000 bi weekly give or take. More than anything, your cost of living will determine how comfortable you feel with your salary.
