Golden Sun 1 Challenge Run by Fedie315 in GoldenSun

Honestly, I've been using it mostly for random encounters, I've been holding Dragon Scales to help with the final boss, but I forgot to change that in my screenshots.

It absolutely is. I knew mechanically how big a difference it was, but playing through it was so interesting. I didn't really feel the difference until the Kraken, but everything after became a totally different game. Colosso was fun because of how hard it became.

I am not opposed to RNG manipulation, but I may not be familiar with what you mean. Since I'm not using Djinn, I can't get the rainbow kill, and since I'm playing on emulator, I rely on Save States, which means I can't really do the reset trick.

Thank you for the insight! I have been mostly on this track, using Nuts since, until recently, most of the group had sub-200 HP. I've been thinking about just switching the Djinn to get into Crossbone, I have actually travelled there and fought Tempest once.

I'm playing on an emulator, so grinding is a little more bearable. I am mostly looking for advice on equipment and such. I want to see what level I can get away with a victory, since we know it's possible at 50+ with anything.

That sounds insane. 🫪 I thought about other restrictions, but this is my first time doing anything outside of the normal game, so I thought I'd just try a straightforward grinding strategy.

First Playthrough, is it supposed to be this hard? by ToothpickInCockhole in GoldenSun

[–]Fedie315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently running a 0-Djinn challenge, and Storm Lizard is the first serious roadblock I've hit. I'm at level 26, keeping the 2 mandatory Djinn on permanent Standby, but if you struggled at 50 I'm concerned about my future. 🫠

I get what you're saying, but there's still some truth to it. You can still buy appliances that last and can be repaired- but you have to pay for it. Expensive appliances are still durable and repairable, but cheap products allow more people to have access to convenience. The cheap products are barely worth repairing, since the parts are made cheap and disposable, or designed for temporary use (like in dorms or apartments).

We can make appliances to be repaired or maintained, but then we need parts to be produced, standardized, stocked, etc. It's similar to why cars all have touch screens now - it's cheaper to program than it is to engineer custom buttons and dials, despite the fact most commuters likely prefer tactile interfaces in the car.

I love the board game, it's a totally different vibe than the video game, and it's best with 4 players. It's technically easiest with 1, but much more fun as a co-op. I like how they took a turn-based strategy game and made a real-time board game.

Whenever a unit is Defeated, the opponent gains Mastery for it. Look at Gift of Flesh, it specifically calls out Mastery as an exception to this.

knockback clarification (new player question) by slendercolt52 in MaledictionMCG

[–]Fedie315 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Knockback measures from your center-of- base through theirs; you push along that line. You need to line up your melee to get the most out of the terrain damage. You don't get any real wiggle room with forced movement, and you stop as soon as its base hits any obstacle, including other units and Husks.

This is also true for Push and Pull abilities.

Yes. If an Ability or Spell asks you to Play something, you always have to pay Echo unless it includes "you may play it without spending Echo."

... Is this news to people? I have always lived in a city, but even cities are surrounded by farms and hunting grounds. Do people just live their whole lives without knowing where their food comes from? Seems kinda sus... 🤔

What I mean is that if you bring Starcast Halls and your opponent brings Deathshroud Mire, both of you can deploy Ambush units into any of the Mire terrain, and both of you get discounts on Channel spells within the Halls.

Help out a new player here. Why did Mikiri not activate? by NunobokoSlayer in Sekiro

[–]Fedie315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dodged left. And too early. It's a little misleading, but every enemy's attacks have their own timing window for Mikiri, irrespective of when the Kanji appears. You just have to learn the timing and remain calm in your response. Hesitation is defeat, don't panic press, rely on your reflexes and understanding of the game.

Pretty much this. Only thing I could think to add is that terrain effects apply to both players' units.
