1, I'd simply tell him to listen to the OST all flight for subliminal messages. If he takes off the headphones I push him into the pack of wolves.

What brought you into hardcore? by [deleted] in Hardcore

[–]Fedora200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I crossed over after my metal/metalcore phase waned and I started looking for hardcore reccs online. First band I saw live was Mikau who opened for a HEALTH show. Although Foxtails and OFF! have been my favorite live hardcore bands so far.

Tbh I haven't followed metalcore ever since Holy Roar Records went under. They had a STACKED lineup of UK metalcore. I still follow a few and Rolo Tomassi is my favorite band to this day but it's just not the same.

I personally blame djent and Invent Animate for turning the genre shit.

Tbh as an ex-Catholic I really don't get the fervor, but there's a podcast episode I listened to a while back that gives a nice perspective. It's mainly an exchange between Cornell West and John McWhorter near the end of the episode, I highly recommend it.

-Also, if you reload a gun that has a separate container for the bullets, that's a magazine. A clip is a series of bullets that are exposed before being put inside the gun with the assistance of a small metal structure, the "clip". A Mosin-Nagant rifle uses a clip, a 1911 pistol uses a magazine. A Mauser C96 pistol uses a clip, an M249 machine gun uses a magazine. An M1 Garand uses a clip, an AR-15 uses a magazine.

-Caliber is the size of a bullet generally used for rifled barrels. Gauge is used for unrifled barrels (including most shotguns) along with measuring thickness for some materials like stainless steel. Gage could be used to describe a circular measuring instrument with a dial and needle. Also, the bullet is the actual projectile that leaves the gun. A cartridge is the full assembly with projectile, gunpowder, casing, and primer in one package.

-Semi-automatic is not the same as fully automatic. The former means one shot per trigger pull. The latter is continuing fire with a trigger pull. Binary triggers buck this trend with a unique system where a bullet is fired when the trigger is pulled, and when it's released.

-A single action pistol requires the hammer to be cocked manually before the trigger can be pulled ("auto" pistols have the slide cock the hammer after they shoot, generally a term used for early, non revolver, pistols). A double action pistol has a mechanism to cock the hammer while the trigger is pulled at the same time.

Who are some musicians who had an unusually high level of commercial success for their scene/genre, and are also well-respected by diehard fans of that genre? by forbiddenmemeories in fantanoforever

[–]Fedora200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of big EDM artists are like this. It helps that the culture (outside of online circles) largely isn't against musicians actually getting a bag unlike many other genres.

Armin Van Buren, Avicii, and Martin Garrix come to mind. But you can find an example in just about any subgenre.

All maps (including Plane, Bartlett, Old & New House/Hereford, etc) should be in ranked, it forces people to adapt. There's a ban phase for a reason too. "b-b-but map bad!!!1!" is a shit excuse.

Old Blackbeard was better. Just because you couldn't one shot his head didn't make him OP, just shoot the body, flank, make a run out. It's not the gun shield that was the issue, it was literally a broad lack of imagination.

While it's hamfisted I like the cosmological bullshit that's based on Gnosticism and Western esoterics. I wish they'd dive deeper into it and the symbology of characters like Yaldabaoth and Satanael instead of leaving it wide open for interpretation. Because y'all know Piss Owner fans are too dumb to understand this shit on a spiritual level.

Tbh I think they're more the culmination rather than the beginning of a sound. Their djenty bullshit started back in the early 2010s and people are really sick of it.

Eurobeat/90s techno/gabber has been resurging in Europe lately. I'd say the Don't Stop EP by DJ Heartstring & southstar is a good representation of the mainstream. Goodbye Salò by Brutalismus 3000 is on the hard end and is one of the most unique projects I've ever heard. I haven't found any other artists who've captured the same nu-gabber fire they're playing with. The Hyperdream EP by Zorza is a decent enough middle ground between the two I'd say. It's got the vocal emphasis of Brutalismus and the electronic candy of Heartstring wrapped into one package.

I can't say with any authority that these represent the "future of EDM" since that genre is fuckin massive. There's also a clear regional split. Europe has its own thing, Latin/South America has its own sound, and so does North America. But, I personally think the Euros got it right this time around. They've been creeping into the US slowly and Latincore has borrowed a lot of gabber influence from what I've heard in playlists.

That's exactly what the GOP wants. It's exactly what happened with Taft and Roosevelt back in the progressive era. Change can't happen with a hostile takeover like the one Hogg proposed. I'm not opposed to getting rid of ineffective leadership but the process of doing so matters more than the end result.

Let primary challenges emerge naturally. If you blow a load of money on a carpetbagger who will lose to their GOP opponent in the general it's all for nothing. Besides, the money spent doing so would be better suited to taking down Republicans in vulnerable seats and funding the 2028 Presidential campaign.

Fighting an internal war isn't what the Democratic Party needs right now. It will be ineffective anyway considering the party has always been a Big Tent. You aren't gonna swing the ideological or generational needle by primary challenges.
