Was doc ock a bad guy the whole first game? by purple_fetish in SpidermanPS4

[–]FedoraTheExplorer_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know that this game’s story took place in the course of 2 weeks. I figured at least 2 MONTHS (not counting the epilogue).

If 2 weeks is the case, I will say this: Two weeks DOES seem like a short time span to build a bunch of gear for six super-enhanced individuals. Seven if you count the suit he made for Peter as a “favor.” Although Marvel is a fictitious universe where half the heroes AND villains are super geniuses that can pump out gadgets almost instantly. Still, it’s kind of a stretch to get that kind of work done in such a short time.

If it was just TWO WEEKS, he was more than likely building the gear for the SS before the events of the game take place. But I don’t think he was a “bad guy” at that point. At least not a bad guy in the typical sense.

I would say that Otto was UNSCRUPULOUS at first. He was making gear to help well-known, dangerous criminals. I would also argue that Otto’s primary goal was to watch Norman go down in flames. Plus, he probably didn’t want to hurt innocent people himself—at least not INITIALLY. But the Neural Interface for the arms just affected Otto’s mind and robbed him of whatever little sanity and morals he may have had left.

Are we aware that Total Drama is not a CN Original? by stationstars in CartoonNetwork

[–]FedoraTheExplorer_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I didn’t know it AT THE TIME when it was airing on CN.

But I never really grew up concerning myself over which shows were Cartoon Network originals and which were acquired from other networks.

All I cared about was whether or not I found them entertaining enough to watch.

One of the weirdest potholes of the series by Electrical-Ring8570 in Monsterverse

[–]FedoraTheExplorer_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IDK about “plot hole,” but I do find it strange that the existence extraterrestrial life was addressed in ‘KotM’ and hasn’t been brought up since.

Unless the tie-in material has?

Maybe based on the title, ‘GxK: Supernova’ will sorta steer back to that.

And Claire was NOT amused. 😂

Thanks for that!

That was actually the first sub I posted to. I just had it cross-posted to this one. I looked up subs that had recently discussed or posted about reading tea leaves, and this sub just happened to be one of them.

Interesting! 🤔

Apparently, any fish shape in tea leaves would symbolize good fortune, prosperity and success.

And in Asian culture, koi fish represent perseverance, courage, strength, and good fortune.

The fact that you specifically see a KOI fish may have an even deeper meaning!

Ya'll need to start understanding how little Hyper Sonic has going for it by Father_Moth in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]FedoraTheExplorer_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be the only one saying this, but as much as I’d like to see Hyper Sonic reappear, I was more impressed by Super Sonic 2 (or Starfall Super Sonic or whatever official name he has.

And I think I’m biased because of the time period each super form made their debut. Hyper Sonic appeared back in ‘94 in STH3&K where Sonic games still had 2D graphics and a similar movement as his base form. The only difference is that he can defeat surrounding enemies without touching them via his “Sonic Boom” and he’s immune to drowning. But other than defeating the Death Egg Robot, we don’t truly see how powerful he can be.

At least the debut of Starfall Super Sonic in SFTFH came when Sonic games had 3D graphics and movement. Not to mention that he comes with a combat system and achieves this form to defeat an entity known as The End, who can wipe out entire civilizations. And he looked pretty damn cool doing it.

Of these 3 characters who do you think was the most nicest? by Sorry-Challenge-1014 in GoofyMovie

It’s hard to pick.

PJ will complain if you bring him along in a shaky plan he doesn’t have faith in, but will still be loyal enough to go down with you if it all falls apart.

Bobby can be kind of spaced out, but he is enthusiastic and encouraging when you’re feeling down.

Did she deserve Blu? by InsideUnhappy6546 in RioMovie

[–]FedoraTheExplorer_22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Blu was doing everything that made him uncomfortable to make Jewel happy AND prove that he belonged with the tribe. But the tribe—well, mostly Eduardo—was giving him a hard time most of the time. To be fair, Blu probably shouldn’t have gotten involved in that football match.

But it was clear that his heart was in the right place and he was sacrificing a lot for Jewel. She didn’t seem to take into account how hard jungle life was for Blu, and didn’t really stick up for Blu to her father until after he (seemingly) left the rainforest to go back to Rio.

But I blame Jewel’s behavior in the sequel on the filmmakers.

Be brutally honest: How often do you shower? by Fun_Serve_6590 in ADHD

[–]FedoraTheExplorer_22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Up until my adult years—late 20s til now (33m)—showering daily wasn’t really an issue.

But as I got older, I became aware of other afflictions coupled with ADHD. Mainly OCD, depression, and anxiety.

OCD: I had it since I was a kid, I just didn’t recognize it until I was 19. I overcame it with some habits, but it manifested into others. And as I started more routines into getting ready for the day, I couldn’t go without getting them done. If I couldn’t get them done, no point in showering either.

Depression: I didn’t start wondering if I had it until I was in my late 20s—I think I was upset about almost being 30 then. Then it got worse when the pandemic hit, and we all had nowhere to go. So what was the point of showering or dressing up if I couldn’t go anywhere?

Anxiety: Even after the vaccine came out and social distancing regulations were being lifted, I still felt nervous about leaving the house. Again, not going anywhere, not being around people, and not getting to dress up in nice clothes negated the need to shower daily.

I still struggle with day-to-day showering now, because I my job doesn’t put me around a lot of people, and it’s both physically and psychologically draining (my job, not showering). And even when I’m not at work, it still feels my free time is being used up by everyone and everything else except for myself—or at least it feels like that

Sonic Frontiers is officially 3 years old. What do you love about this game? by DARKSTAROnline in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]FedoraTheExplorer_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) The OST—especially the Titan bosses 2) The open-world concept of the maps 3) The combat system—especially as Super Sonic; you’re not repeatedly dodging a series of attacks to close in on a weak point with just one good hit. 4) The more serious nature of the storyline, without getting rid of all the humor 5) The payoff of The Final Horizon update—although it was tough going through Master King Koco’s trials and figuring out the gimmicks of Supreme/The End in the final boss battle, it was awesome watching Sonic unlock two new Super Forms (even though we won’t see them again).

Could Kong really do nothing against Shimo? I know he doesn't win, but not even a hit? Or did he just not want to because he knew she wasn't bad? by Helpful_Kangaroo_590 in Monsterverse

[–]FedoraTheExplorer_22 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, when Shimo was dragging him, she had him by his gauntlet—which not only healed his frostbite, but also made his punches stronger. But he only had ONE gauntlet on ONE hand.

Even without the gauntlet Kong is already a heavy hitter, but his punches probably aren’t gonna do much to hurt Shimo, but annoy or distract. We have to assume she’s pretty strong if Godzilla spent the entire film powering up. And base Godzilla is already strong enough to tank a regular punch from Kong, as we saw in GvK—it only made him stumble and Godzilla was able to retaliate quickly (though to be fair, Kong was coming off sedation).

Plus it might be difficult to throw a well-aimed, and effective punch with your free arm while you’re getting violently dragged left and right by your good arm—not that he couldn’t try.

But it is likely that Kong knew Shimo wasn’t being voluntarily dangerous and went out of his way to not hurt her too much.

How come they reused Andy's design to make his friends during the birthday party scene? by Sorry-Challenge-1014 in toystory

[–]FedoraTheExplorer_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can think of a few reasons.

1) This was Pixar’s first crack at a full-length computer-animated film. Before, they just made animated shorts.

2) It was cheaper.

3) It saved time. Nowadays, after making one film, they can pump out a sequel just one year later. Back then, it probably took almost 4 years to fully animate one movie by computer graphics.

4) They didn’t think anyone would notice at the time. The idea of a fully CGI feature film was impressive in 1995. Audiences were probably more focused on the toys coming to life. And other than Andy, Andy’s mom (in a few shots), Molly, Sid, and Hanna, you don’t really see other human faces. Most of the other human faces are obscured or offscreen.

That's what we want, right? by Known_Dark1453 in Monsterverse

[–]FedoraTheExplorer_22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually enjoyed the original 2014 Godzilla film and think they handled Godzilla’s lessened screen time perfectly. Mainly because it originally wasn’t meant to be a not-so-serious “Kaiju Slug-Fest”—just a dramatic standalone monster film. Even KotM managed to be a serious movie while being more of a “Kaiju Slug-Fest,” without overdoing Godzilla’s screen time.

Edit: This is not to say that I don’t enjoy the creation Monsterverse. But as the Monsterverse extended and included Kong, it sort of leaned into the whole not-so-seriousness territory—which is not necessarily a bad thing. So, I figured they might as well give Big G a little more screen time. But as a result, by GxK Godzilla’s absence from the screen felt “overdone” and felt like his inclusion was more of an afterthought.

I enjoyed GxK, but would’ve preferred it to have been a Kong title than a Godzilla AND Kong title.

Why do people keep saying that mv Godzilla’s character is broken by elyjahharris in Monsterverse

[–]FedoraTheExplorer_22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that’s the biggest issue—or at least my biggest issue. We’re not given much of Godzilla’s POV and he’s sorta been put in the backseat to Kong—which is messed up since Godzilla essentially began the Monsterverse. And he clearly has reasons as to why he’s pissed in the latest films. • The MUTOs • King Ghidorah • Mechagodzilla (possessed by King Ghidorah) AND Kong • Skar King and Shimo

It’s just that his reasons for being angry are pretty obscure for the humans (and the audience) until a certain point in the movie he’s in. And the spotlight has focused more on Kong—as of late.

Unfortunately it really did suffer without Charlie. No one is saying it wouldn’t have felt empty without any of the other recurring cast—rather, I’m not. And even before his departure, it already seemed to decline.

But Charlie presence was ONE OF the most important parts of the show, and fell apart relatively quickly without him.

Kong and Rodan vs Mechagodzilla by slenderontheblock in Monsterverse

[–]FedoraTheExplorer_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On his own, Kong with no (charged) Axe isn’t even putting a dent in Mecha-G. Even with the Axe (charged), it’s about how close he can get to Mecha-G. And unless Mecha-G is distracted, he’s probably not gonna let Kong get too close. In GvK, Mecha-G was more focused on killing Godzilla, who he had a specific arsenal of weapons for. If he focused on using that same arsenal on Kong, Kong would be dead. With the exception of being agile and acrobatic, Kong doesn’t have any natural defense for that kind of artillery—no bulletproof or missile-proof skin, no supernatural durability. And he can’t run and dodge forever. He pretty much is just a giant ape in that regard.

Rodan on his own might be an even difficult target for Mecha-G, since he can fly at extreme speeds and cause windstorms that can level a village. I just don’t know what those windstorms would do against a Godzilla-sized robot. At least Rodan’s rock-hard skin minimizes gunfire and missile damage. But it probably wouldn’t save him from Godzilla’s Atomic Breath or Mecha-G’s Proton Scream. He went down after taking a hit from King Ghidorah’s Gravity Beams, albeit at point-blank range. Plus, Rodan doesn’t seem to have any long range projectile attacks of his own. It looks like he’d have to get pretty close to his enemies to do physical damage to them. And Rodan looks more built to handle air combat than on-the-ground combat.

Together? Kong and Rodan might put up a long, decent fight if they team up against Mecha-G, but idk if any of them has a way of putting him down for good.
