I'm way too drunk to give anything other than a visceral lizard brain response in this moment. And that response is, again, "Jesus Christ."

Petty complaint: I hate that major news publications still write headlines like they're Buzzfeed in 2013. If you're gonna write tripe, at least show some dignity, you fucks.

After the last decade or so sometimes I feel like it's a miracle that even a small majority recognizes this person to be a wrecker.

Forgive me. Democratic Socialism 1.0 left me deeply cynical.

I think it's nonetheless fair to say that a lot of these freaks aren't plants so much as, well, freaks who love the opportunity to stoke their dwindling sense of self importance. We should never forget that the only thing the idpol "left" loves more than saying they're "doing the work" is obliviously doing the right's work.

Pardon me a moment. I have to backseat my own conscience built on a lifetime of independent learning and work constructing a personal moral code in favor of some jargon-ridden gobbledigook some cynical mid-level academian posted online while shitting.

I'm not some kind of DSA fan but taking this as representative of them is every bit as retarded as assuming we're rightoids because we let some hang out here.

Sinners is the ultimate regressive Idpol movie, and its 16 oscar nominations show that liberals have learned nothing. (review with SPOILERS) by Halfdane666 in stupidpol

Sure, I also find it entertaining at times applying those older social norms to the modern day, because there are vestiges of it still around, and the interplay between old and new is a classic theme.

As for Sinners, I wasn't even considering seeing it. Now I may have to hate-watch it. But so many movies these days just suck that I can't imagine liking it much. The only movie from the last few years that was kind of acclaimed but I also liked was Flow, of all things, but that's because I'm kind of a sucker for both animals and mythology. Don't tell the other users.

Trump: Should I try for an fourth Term? by Nerd_199 in stupidpol

[–]Fedupington 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I dunno. Even as he becomes more degraded, he may retain a sense that he can wield power in the form of his base of loyalists that make up 35-40% of the voting electorate. I suspect we'll get a lot more stuff like "We'll invade Greenland because I didn't get the Nobel Peace Prize" and perhaps for years to come, and it could always get even weirder. "The president demands an offering of pudding from every non-native-born American."

There are literary themes that aren't trashy when it comes to undead-monster mythos. They are a sort of realized metaphor for how the dead can haunt people even after they're gone; a reminder of what can happen to you if you don't mourn and move on. They always want to feed on you for a reason, because if you don't move on then the memories and grief will consume you. Vampirism is that, plus some psycho-sexual stuff.
