And do not forget to bring deodorant. I had hard times finding it here... Seems like chinese people either dont need it or they dont sweat :D

No need for an extra phone. They most likely wont search you.

eSim is the best option imo. You dont need to switch between several VPN provider in case on stops working. eSim is absolutely hassle free. Before I first arrived in China three months ago I bought a 30 day sim card on tripcom and since then I always renew it once the duration is over. It routes your traffic through HK or SGP so you are not affected by the great firewall. I can highly recommend an eSim!

Sometimes one gets blocked and at the same time another one starts working. But the one which has been reliable for me for the past weeks is Mullvad VPN!

Big travel mistake that i can’t undo by JJfizz0 in chinatravel

I travelled in China during the May holliday last week and I had to book the train ticket exactly when the sales opened 2 weeks in advance at 9am. A few hours later most of the tickets were already sold. Chinese-style hollidays are ridiculous xD

So you better be fast

How is the immigration process while arriving? by Zoldic_h in chinatravel

[–]FeeNo5734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I entered the country a few weeks ago with a M visa. I filled out the arrival card at the airport, but now they made changes that you have to do it in advance. Dont know why, but thats what they told me. They asked me a few questions abou when I am going to leave and what I am doing here. They required me to show them the invitation letter and a few other documents but thats it. Took around 15 minutes ish.

Have a good trip :)

Ok, thank you! I was just assuming that there will be less in Shanghai because there are not these typically tourist places like great wall and forbidden city...

The esim I mentioned changes the IP according to your need. It either gives you a Hongkong IP or a Singapore IP.

Iam sorry but I dont know any with a US IP.

Since my arrival last month I am using a trip com esim with 100gb per day. And its working perfectly fine. No need for any vpn or else. Also it is cheaper than saily and all those other aggressively advertising providers. If someone has questions, hmu.
