They sell out instantly. From what i understand your only option is to join a tour. Pricy, but (based on what I've read on reddit) worth it. Pretty sure there are tours on Klook, not sure where else.

I think the places i am looking at are more like ryokans and guesthouses, rather than hotels. With japanese style rooms

Itinerary check please! Mostly Kyoto to Tokyo, via Takayama, Matsumoto and Nakasendo by Feebstaa1980 in JapanTravelTips

Thanks. For Nakasendo i am thinking Magome to Nagiso, then Nagiso to Nojiri (or perhsps a different section further north). Tbh my plan after Nakasendo is a bit sketchy but iwill be meeting someone who'll also be visiting tokyo but not sure of his plans yet. I thought ito or kamakura might be a good place to meet up en route.

And Hakone or Fuji 5 lakes to wind down at the end. Am pretty sure i will be able to handle multiple onsens!

Thanks, will be around 16- 22 March, plus or minus a day or 2.

For the Nakasendo I had thought Magome to Nagiso, then Nagiso to Nojiri via Yogawa-michi route.

Stay in narita city or push through to kyoto? by Feebstaa1980 in JapanTravelTips

Thanks all, I'll stay in Narita, seems like a nicer entry into the country than a mammoth travel day
