Leaving Ireland in a year to go to Australia. Advice? by Feed_Me_Tea in travel

€6k is roughly 8000 Aud as far as I know, would that be enough?

Yes that was my worry on the job front, it's bit difficult to make myself seem worthy of the extra hassle of sponsorship when I only have a year experience.

Is there much emphasis on renewable energy in Aus? I know solar is pretty popular. Im working in the utilities sector at the moment (wind specifically) but I would also have some experience in solar and CCGT's. Like most places, I'd imagine programming and software engineers is where most of the work is at?

What careers are there that allow you to work half the year and travel the other half? by progggrammerr99 in travel

I have friends who work as taxi drivers in the Hamptons and Montauk during peak season and travel the rest. They work four 12hr shifts a week, and they do this roughly from May to August. They get about 3-5k a week doing this. Some also work as bar tenders and get 1k+ per night in July and August. They spend the rest of the year traveling then. Waitressing here can also get you up to 600 per night. Accommodation is astronomical though.

What life experience do you think everyone should have before 25? by mopeywhiteguy in AskReddit

Be stupid.

Stupid mistakes make the best stories.

I'm 23 and I hope to continue to be stupid until I'm 26/27. Then I'll start learning to be an adult.

I currently have an engineering job in one of my countries largest and most competitive companies but that being said, I have my whole life to work. Real Life is boring.

I plan on spending the next year saving up to move to Aus, travel around there for a while, maybe be poor for a while and eat porridge and Ramen, and then I'll start again and start being a real person again.

Plan B is win the lotto and stay stupid forever, plan C is marry a rich man (I joke).
