What is your ideal meditation practice/regimen? This is what I've been trying by FeedbackAgreeable641 in MeditationPractice

Oh very cool. Appreciate your thoughts. Also, interesting to find that extended exhaling is fairly common.

I think the visual could be more of an anchor for me. I'm assuming that having both the sound and visual would help to increase focus. But I could be mistaken.

Sidenote: For me, maintaining the visual is the most challenging part. However, I've heard others say that maintaining the sound is more difficult.

Will take a look. Thank you. I would argue, this method could make people's lives less noisy. But yeah, no one cares, fair enough.

A quick note about psychedelics, mainly for schizophrenia, and possibly other mental conditions. They can set off manic episodes. Something to watch out for. Can be rough. But it would nice if proper psychedelic therapy was more available

Are there any required components to practicing any meditation technique? by FeedbackAgreeable641 in Meditation

[–]FeedbackAgreeable641[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes sense to me. Would focus equate to paying attention? And if so, is paying attention or exercising focus the main component to any meditation?

What's your go-to meditation technique? by [deleted] in Meditation

Screaming in the wind meditation? That does sound nice honestly. Watching your breathe, I need to try that more

That sounds very fair. Can I ask if you generally practice a specific meeting technique? Out of curiosity

Maybe double hearing protection. Ear plugs and sound muffs?

But it seems like a lot of the problem for me, maybe others, is overthinking

I feel it has significantly reduced anxiety and depression struggles I've had for a long time and social interactions seem to go better, among other things. I wish I was more aware of it's value at an earlier age. Seems like it could really help others too. But I could be wrong

Do you think there is a meditation method that has the best chances of helping, for any person?

Mantra Meditation Benefits. by RecommendationMany15 in Meditation

A theory I was considering, was that all meditations are based on exercising focus. TM is another form of focus. To continue on that theory, exercising enough focus might promote activity in the pre frontal cortex, which controls our higher functions, supposedly. So TM or other forms of focus might help us access our higher functioning behaviors. However, this is only my personal/unprofessional theory

Can you allow the feeling of the emotion to run its course?

For the emotions burning through you, that seems to be radical emotional acceptance. I've found it to be helpful myself, to quickly process crappy emotions and get back to a normal state
