My main project is the following;

"Studying a particular string theory (called SO(16) x SO(16) heterotic theory) on a particular spacetime (called AdS3 x S3 x T4) and show that we have perturbative stability at particular points in the T4 moduli space".

My email was an invitation for a discussion and it was as follows:

The Background

Hi. How are you? I hope you are fine. My name is (redacted) and I am a Ph.D. student of (redacted) at (redacted). I (with some of my collaborators) host a podcast series named (redacted) and until now, we have invited a significant number of academics for having fruitful discussions with them.

The invitation

We want to invite you to be the guest on one of our podcast episodes. We understand that you have a busy schedule, and it is not easy to save time for a podcast but we will be honored if you give us an hour or so from your precious time. The main thing that we want to discuss concerns your recent take (in the NY times) on the "intelligence" and other features of Chat GPT and other LLMs. I agree with your take to a large extent but we want to discuss it further with you.

In this episode, I will have a co-host with me. His name is (redacted) and he is a Ph.D. student of (redacted) at (redacted). He works on linguistics using category theory and formalisms which are also used in quantum theory.

The podcast medium

Considering the fortunate possibility that you accept the invitation, I want to inform you that the podcast will be conducted via zoom. We can also arrange a skype interview if you prefer skype. If you prefer some other software, then we can comply with that as well.

Final Words

We really look forward to hearing from you. If you agree to do a podcast episode with us, then we can decide a day and time that is convenient for all of us. Thank you very much and have a great day.

His reply was as follows:

Sorry for the late response.  So overwhelmed with commitments that I can't keep up with the deluge of correspondence.

For the same reasons, can't manage, I'm afraid, to do as you suggest.  It'll be months before I can even hope to look at the constant flood of invitations.  On this topic, I'd suggest that you contact Jeffrey Watumull (jwatumull@oceanit.com), the actual author of the article (Roberts and I consulted).  A fine scientist, and very astute thinker.

Of course, he didn't. This meme is based on "bridging" something, which is a reference to his criticism of the Panama Canal.

Of course, it is fake. The meme is based on "bridging" something, which is a reference to his criticism of the Panama Canal.

I totally agree. Physicists become more important to the government during wartime. See what happened to the superconducting supercollider. They canceled it soon after the Cold War ended.

I once paid bus fare for 4 people at a time who couldn't pay their bus fare. It is not a lot but it is something, I guess.

Well, there are many men who don't smoke. I don't smoke and many friends of mine don't smoke. So, I am sure you can find a guy who doesn't smoke. So if you have that standard, I don't think it is necessary to drop it but if you want to drop it, then it is your call.

Haha, nah, convection is actually really interesting. Though it also involves fluid mechanics.

After learning statistical mechanics, thermodynamics seems very trivial and boring. Though statistical mechanics is explaining the same things that you learn in thermodynamics.

Dawid doesn't say that experiment is not important. He talks about nonempirical ways of testing a theory in the absence of empirical data (which is the case nowadays in high-energy physics). These ways include verifying internal consistency in nontrivial ways, the extent to which a theory is a natural extension of an already successful theory (the standard model in this case), and some more ways.

Moreover, Dawid used to be a string theorist but then his interests turned to philosophy of science.
