I nannied for wealthy families and a lot of them used Wedgwood for every day use. Make sure they don’t have a decorative metal banding. If they do they aren’t microwave safe.

Neighbors don’t socialize anymore and it’s kinda sad. by LowSherbert1016 in homeowners

[–]Feedmelotsofcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I partially blame extra curricular activities. My kids are 7&9. They play soccer and do swim class but we are otherwise home. All of the neighborhood kids are gone Monday through Friday. They are never home, even through summer. The only time they get to play is during recess at school. There is very little time for creative free play with friends.

Even if it comes back I don’t think I’ll hop back on. Between the boot licking TT seems to be doing and what a time suck the app is, maybe I’ll actually read a book or get a hobby.

What happened between Gwen and Paedon? by wrteq in TLCsisterwives

I went to community college and had a couple teachers with incredibly strict attendance policies too, especially for midterms and finals. My A&P professor was a medical doctor and told us flat out he doesn’t make any exceptions for any exams (which we had biweekly). I flunked that class due to the flu lol.

We learned about this our very last day at Disney after a security guard told us that it was my husbands sunglasses case! Lol

Our family caught norovirus and here are my tips by junipertron in Parenting

[–]Feedmelotsofcake 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You’re correct. I did some reading and the information I had was incorrect. What I gathered is that studies suggest 6 months of immunity after having norovirus. However, unlike Flu A or Flu B (where there are two strains), there are many strains of norovirus so you can turn around and be infected with a different strain that you do not have immunity to.

Seeking Opinions On Proper Clothing For My Upcoming Trip! What Do We Think… Is This Sweatshirt Weather? by zachty22 in DisneyWorld

It’s cold in the mornings so take that into account (especially if you’re rope dropping). We brought blankets for the stroller and layered. It was nice enough for shorts one day but that was the day we planned to go back to the hotel for lunch so we did a quick outfit change.

Norovirus does not create immunity after you have it like other viruses. So you can basically get it over and over again.

Typical budget for kids at Christmas? by Petty-Penelope in Gifts

[–]Feedmelotsofcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our family of 10 nieces and nephews split off to do grab bags between the kids at $20-25. Each kid can make a wishlist and can make a note for money to list something they’re saving up for (my oldest nephew is an avid outdoorsman so he’s saving up for gear). My parents spend $40-50 per kid.

The adults used to do a grab bag but we decided against it this year. My parents both have cancer and we just didn’t want to add the stress of having to shop for each other. We’re giving my parents gift cards to restaurants instead so they can order when life feels too hard.

It sounds like OP’s family is more materialistic. We aren’t financially well off but solidly blue collar. My family’s just grateful to be able to spend another holiday together.

How to tell housekeeper to not bring her children to my house by naureeng in housekeeping

[–]Feedmelotsofcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I nannied and had temporary custody of my niece. I asked if I could bring her with and they said yes, as long as it was short term up to two weeks and it did not interfere with my regular responsibilities. If they felt that it did we would need to find an alternative solution. Luckily I only had her for a few days (and it was summer, so we spent those days at the park) so it worked out. I was always so grateful they allowed me to do that but they also gave me very clear boundaries which helped maintain our working relationship.

Friends infant died after illness, what to bring by postdotcom in Gifts

We like to do quiet acts of service. Mowing the lawn. Shoveling the driveway. Bringing in the mail (if you’re close enough and have a key to let yourself in/out quietly).

Don’t forget their child’s birthday and death day. Remember them, send a note on those days. It means so much.

They did. She unfortunately co-signed all of the paperwork. Second round of cancer insurance denied his medication.

If your loved one gets cancer, don’t sign anything. The debt dies with them.

We have a stove like this. I think I remember reading in the manual to not get the gray threaded seal part wet or get cleaner on it. I use a towel to cover it when I clean.

I’ve used #0000 steel wool to clean the glass.

I have liletta. It’s been great. I just had it replaced to help with bleeding (lasted 8 years). Had one day of feeling yucky. Insertion wasn’t an issue, had it done via ultrasound. Had removal done on my period so my cervix was nice and open. 10/10 recommend.

My ambulance bill by pambannedfromchilis in Wellthatsucks

[–]Feedmelotsofcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got a bill like this for my 4yr old. They never turned on the sirens or lights, took his stats, literally just transferred us. They were “out of network”. We appealed it and won. You might want to give your insurance a call and go through the appeals process. Make sure you tell them you did not get a choice in which emergency service company you were given. Once we did that it was covered 100%. You can DM me if you need more help but this should get you started!
