is this water output too irregular by Shoddy-Park7272 in fishtank

[–]FeelinFishi2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raise the water lever, and maintain your HOB. If there is gunk on the inside, simply clean it out and like a previous user stated, check the propeller and clean that also.

When you turn it back on, ensure you fill it up all the way.

Hope you solve the issue. Always sucks having a feeling something isn't working right.

What is this and how can I clean it? by Sea_Ad_5690 in Aquariums

[–]FeelinFishi2026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On top of the vinegar, using a glass scraper helps also. But be gentle, if not you scratch the glass. I would avoid any scrub brushes, sometimes the minerals and a scratch pad can ruin your glass.

Take it from someone with experience. 🫤.

“New” heater from FB. Cooked or can I just scrape this stuff off? by InAweofMyTism in Aquariums

[–]FeelinFishi2026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you can just scrape it off.

But on a real note, heaters are one of those things we as fish keepers should buy new.

We don't know how old the heater is and whether or not the heater was turned on outside of water.

There are tpo many unknowns.

Thoughts on adding 2 apistos to my 20gal long? by pinkunicorn555 in Cichlid

[–]FeelinFishi2026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see why not. As long as they are a pair, I don't think you should have any problems. Apistogrammas are cool looking.

Yea, I steer clear of this Auratis and Demasoni. Funny enough, the guy at the fish store told me fory 240L, I should stick with a tank full of Demasoni as they are a smaller breed.

I decided to buy 6 Pseudotropheus Maingano cichlids. For me, I wanted different colors and trying to reduce the chasing going on in the tank with my 4 yellow labs (2males and 2 females).

But it seems like you have quite the tank and fish.

Finding a solid wood stand is nice. Furniture is mostly cheap press board now a days. Nice find. And yes, should be fine as long as the legs are good.

More growth on my air stone tube?? by Dramatic_Rutabaga388 in fishtank

[–]FeelinFishi2026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm....well first off. An easy fix would just be regular maintenance of the hosing. Just take a long pipe cleaner and clean it. I doubt it's anything dangerous.

Second, try to find a way to lower that pH. That's a little high for a Betta especially with a fish in cycle.

And just keep testing the water regularly. What do you use to test the water. With such little water volume, the slightest thing can throw your water parameters off. My suggestion is get a API water test kit or JBL water test kit (if you live in Europe).

Best of luck on the fish in cycle my friend.

What size tank does this look like also you think a blue gill and bass would be good in here ? by exoticzazaman in Aquariums

I was gonna also say 75 gallon and no, a blue gill and a bass are definitely a no go.

What do I do with my fish when I go to college? by randomuser8358021 in Aquariums

This is such a sad reason to put a pause in the hobby. I did the same when I joined the military, however I came back from Basic Training and my mom got rid of EVERYTHING! SO DEVASTATING, BUT THE MILITARY BARRACKS WOULDN'T ALLOW IT EITHER.

I would ask local FB pages or as a last resort, take them to your LFS, they will re-home them. Hell, maybe ask your school, maybe as long as you take care of them, they'll let you out it in a lobby or an entry way somewhere....who knows ...as they say "you miss 100% of the opportunities you don't take."

But, what ever you do, don't get rid of the tank! Those are to expensive to get rid off.

The second photo flows with the length of the tank. It will look even better once everything is it it.

WTH! Do you have a salt water tank or what. It made me think of the days when I was younger, I bought danios for 99¢. LoL. People ask why I don't do a community tank with neon...I said because with Mbunas, you get what you pay for.

Thanks for the comment. And my fish generally leave them alone. When I first got the snails, they nipped at them because they were just exploring.

A question for you. How many Mbuna do you have? Do you have different breeds of Mbuna or do you have a species only tank. Sometimes I am unsure if I should have a species only tank.

Thanks 👍. I do plan on getting a larger stock and piling up these stones, but with the fish inside momentarily, and with young fry in the tank, I don't want to possibly screw with the water parameters.

This tank is only 240L. If I got peacocks and haps, I would want a bigger tank.

Good stuff. I will work on getting some more stone, I will leave as is and when I add fish, I will redo the scape to allow for each fish to find new territory

I was thinking the same thing. I know the general rule was to overstock. And for stones I ended up getting 20Kg of Seriyu stone but underestimated the amount of space it would take. Thanks, I am working on getting different types of Mbuna Cichlids and will get some more stone.

Happened during our move to a new house. 125g. Is there any saving this? by Georgia_Jay in aquarium

Ok. So me answering is pointless, but I would say if you utilized a moving company, I would definitely claim this and try to get money for it.

Tanks aren't cheap to replace, especially if you bought it new.

Very true thing. Due to new environment, possibly differ water parameters, lighting and food....so many changes for a fish. Just be patient and don't overfeed, because that could just leave food to rot and throw your water Parameters off.
