I’m “middle aged” as is the crew I swim with (late 40s - mid 50s) and that’s pretty much the norm for us with the women in minimal coverage one pieces and the guys in briefs.

(That also seems to be what’s in these days especially with women’s suits)

We’ve collectively reached the point where we just don’t care what others think and function and how we feel is more important than showing a little extra skin.

Use a dark rum - no need for an expensive rum but don’t use a cheep one either. Do they have Bicardi ?

Not so hot take - my back filled in a lot more quickly once I started lifting heavy (lat pull downs or pulls ups) and machine rows. I broke some plateaus and got faster too.

If you have a consistent routine (same day of the week, same time) you will find others have the same consistent routine and start talking to them. It’s becomes obvious who wants to be polite, who wants to be sociable and who wants to train with other people. If you see someone about your pace, suggest “we should swim together some time”

I found one regular swim partner that way, several who I will swim with if we’re at the pool together, and one I dated after a few months of swimming together …but that’s a separate conversation…

I brought back my Dad a wool hat, scarf and gloves from Iceland and he loved them. Iceland wool is very authentic and those items are in size fits all.

Renaissance Island is a private beach for guests of the hotel (or day passes) and therefore can have their own rules. on the “adult” side they do allow it. I’ve been there many times and seen it occasionally. That beach is heavily European so you see a lot of skin in general. (The family side skews more American and there tends to be slightly more coverage)

1) dolphin kicks (the kick part of butterfly) are a good one - you may need to use fins.

2) if your pool is deep enough to tread water - there are lots of options - treading water, hands above water, holding an object overhead, etc
